  • WAS Relief Pitcher #61
Nationals activated LHP Robert Garcia from the 15-day injured list.
Garcia returns to the Nats’ active roster after spending the last two weeks on the injured list with the flu. The 27-year-old has allowed six earned runs in 8 1/3 innings this season with a 13/4 K/BB ratio.
  • NYM Center Fielder #6
Starling Marte is out of the starting lineup against the Marlins on Sunday.
Marte will get a day off against his former team. Tyrone Taylor will be in the lineup while the 35-year-old gets some rest.
  • NYM Right Fielder #28
J.D. Martinez is not in the lineup for Sunday’s tilt versus the Marlins.
Martinez will get a day off against right-hander Sixto Sanchez and the Marlins on Sunday. Brandon Nimmo will be the designated hitter while hitting third, and DJ Stewart will play right field and hit cleanup.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #67
Marlins recalled RHP Emmanuel Ramirez from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Ramirez, 29, is back in the place of Anthony Maldonado after Maldonado was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville. The 29-year-old made three appearances and didn’t give up a run over 3 1/3 innings of work in his previous stay with Miami.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #52
Marlins optioned RHP Anthony Maldonado to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Maldonado well head down to give the Marlins a fresh arm in the bullpen. The 26-year-old will report back to Jacksonville with Emmanuel Ramirez recalled in the corresponding transaction.
  • STL Third Baseman #13
Matt Carpenter is leading off as the designated hitter Sunday against the Red Sox.
This will be Carpenter’s first time in the lineup for the Cardinals at home since returning to the club. The 38-year-old is getting the start with Nolan Gorman getting a day off, Alec Burleson playing left field, and Brendan Donovan handling second base.
  • NYY Third Baseman #95
Oswaldo Cabrera is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the White Sox.
Cabrera, 25, also sat out Saturday after going 0-for-4 Friday. The infielder will be a bench option with Jon Berti hitting ninth and manning the hot corner for the series finale. Austin Wells also is on the bench Sunday with Jose Trevino lined up as the starting backstop.
  • STL Shortstop #0
Masyn WInn is not in the starting lineup against the Red Sox on Sunday.
Winn will get a day off despite currently holding a nine-game hitting streak. The 22-year-old will get a break with Brandon Crawford getting the start at shortstop and hitting seventh. Nolan Gorman will also get the afternoon off against Nick Pivetta with Brendan Donovan handling second base.
  • BOS Right Fielder #52
Wilyer Abreu is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
Abreu will sit again with southpaw Matthew Liberatore on the mound for the Cardinals. Rob Refsnyder will be the starting right fielder and hit second while Abreu retreats to the bench.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with an RBI single on Saturday, lifting the Dodgers to a 4-0 victory over the Reds.
Freeman reached base safely in three of his four plate appearances as he continues to find his groove at the dish, batting .302 (16-for-53) with two homers over his last 15 contests. The 34-year-old veteran on-base machine isn’t running much at the moment with just one steal through 48 games, but his plate skills remain elite.
  • CIN Third Baseman #7
Spencer Steer went 0-for-3 with a strikeout on Saturday in the Reds’ shutout loss at the hands of the Dodgers.
It’s probably too early to panic, but Steer is batting just .165 (18-for-109) with one homer and eight steals over his last 30 games. The 26-year-old’s plate skills remain solid and his underlying Statcast batted ball metrics point to some regression on the way.
