  • DET Starting Pitcher #18
Tigers placed RHP Kenta Maeda on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a viral illness.
The Tigers are the most recent team to be hit by a viral illness that has been going around and it will cause Maeda to miss his scheduled start against the Marlins on Monday. Expect Matt Manning to be summoned from Triple-A Toledo to start in his place for that one. Akil Baddoo was recalled in a corresponding move on Saturday.
  • WAS Left Fielder #6
Jesse Winker will undergo an MRI exam to determine the extent of his right knee injury.
Winker sustained the injury on Saturday when he was trying to get back to second base in the opening inning. If he’s forced to miss any substantial time, it could potentially open the door for the highly anticipated arrival of James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.
  • BAL Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander went 2-for-2 with two homers, four RBI, and a walk to lead the Orioles to a 6-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.
Santander drew a walk in the second inning, then led off the fourth with a solo homer off Taijuan Walker to tie the game. He later gave the Orioles some insurance runs in the eighth, taking José Ruiz deep for a two-run blast for his second homer of the day. After hitting nine home runs over the first two months, he’s already up to eight while hitting .298 in a red-hot June. The 29-year-old slugger is slashing .231/.307/.498 with 17 homers and 42 RBI across 277 plate appearances on the season.
  • PHI Shortstop #33
Edmundo Sosa went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Orioles on Saturday.
Sosa led off the second inning with a solo shot off Grayson Rodriguez for the second of two runs the Phillies would score on the day. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting a solid .280/.343/.512 with five homers, 24 runs scored, 19 RBI, and two steals across 138 plate appearances as he fills in for Trea Turner at shortstop.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #30
Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.
Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 77/23 K/BB ratio across 70 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Houston on Friday.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #99
Taijuan Walker allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.

A double, base hit, and a sacrifice fly brought the first run across the board for the Orioles in the third inning. Anthony Santander then led off the fourth with a solo homer. Walker would pitch into the sixth, giving up the go-ahead run on two hits and a sacrifice fly before leaving with two outs. The 31-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.33 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 40/18 K/BB ratio across 49 innings. He lines up for a start against the Diamondbacks in Philadelphia on Friday.
  • PIT Shortstop #15
Oneil Cruz (ankle) remains out of the Pirates’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against the Rockies.
It’s the second straight game that the dynamic 25-year-old shortstop has missed at Coors Field due to a sore ankle. The encouraging sign is that is still hasn’t been placed on the injured list, so the Pirates still believe that it’s truly a day-to-day type of situation. Jared Triolo will once again start in his place and will bat eighth against Rockies’ southpaw Ty Blach.
  • WAS First Baseman #45
