  • ATL Left Fielder #20
Marcell Ozuna launched his 35th home run of the season on Saturday in a win over the Rockies.
Ozuna is finally getting some help in Atlanta after single-handedly carrying the club’s offense at the outset of the year. His fifth-inning blast off Rockies reliever Noah Davis was his 35th round-tripper of the season and he’s a virtual lock to eclipse the 40-homer summit for the second consecutive season. The fact that he’s limited to a utility spot will bother some fantasy managers, but he’s an undeniable absolute offensive force.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #54
Angels selected the contract of LHP José Suarez from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Suarez returns to the majors after posting a 6.54 ERA for Triple-A Salt Lake. He did have a fine 62/17 K/BB in 52 1/3 innings, and there’s a good reason why the Angels like to promote their pitching prospects straight from Double-A. Suarez will apparently be available out of the pen tonight. The Angels already have a six-man rotation, and there’s no word yet of anyone being scratched.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #52
Angels optioned RHP Hans Crouse to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Crouse was just called up yesterday, but since he threw 27 pitches then, he’s getting swapped out for a fresh arm. He has a 2.84 ERA in 25 1/3 innings for the Angels this season.
  • LAA Left Fielder #7
Angels transferred RF Jo Adell from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
As presumed, Adell will miss the rest of the season with the oblique strain he suffered Friday. He finishes the year at .207/.280/.402 with 20 homers and 15 steals in 451 plate appearances. The Angels ought to explore upgrading in right field this winter, but Adell did occasionally look like a major league regular this year, especially with the way his defense has improved.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #54
Guardians recalled LHP Joey Cantillo from Triple-A Columbus.
Cantillo will make a spot start against the White Sox tonight, allowing the rest of the rotation to have an extra day off. He’ll likely be swapped out for a reliever tomorrow.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #26
Guardians designated LHP Anthony Gose for assignment.
It was good that MLB put in rules to prevent players from being optioned a dozen times per year, but there’s nothing keeping the Guardians from promoting and DFAing Gose every week. This is the fourth time it’s happened since the beginning of August.
  • ATL Catcher #16
Braves placed C Travis d’Arnaud on the paternity list.
D’Arnaud could miss the next three games and return after the off day Thursday. Sean Murphy is catching for the Braves tonight, and Chadwick Tromp was recalled to serve as the backup.
  • ATL Catcher #45
Braves recalled C Chadwick Tromp from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Tromp was last with the Braves in May while Sean Murphy was hurt, and he’s now back because Travis d’Arnaud is on the paternity list. He hit .250/.259/.364 in 54 plate appearances over the first two months.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #67
Astros sent LHP Parker Mushinski outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Mushinski cleared waivers after being DFA’d on Friday. He’ll have to accept the outright assignment, but he will be a minor league free agent at season’s end.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher
The Rangers will promote Kumar Rocker to start Thursday against the Mariners in Seattle.
That was supposed to be Jack Leiter’s turn, so we’ll see what happens there. Rocker is throwing the ball extremely well at the moment, and that’s a very favorable first matchup, so it’s worth the risk to pick him up. His last seven outings between Double- and Triple-A have produced a 0.91 ERA and a 47/4 K/BB in 29 2/3 innings. It should be noted that his season high for pitches is 72, so it might be tough for him to go five innings against the Mariners.
  • NYY Center Fielder #89
Yankees recalled OF Jasson Domínguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
He’s playing center and batting sixth tonight. Instead of cutting Alex Verdugo or Trent Grisham, the Yankees stuck DJ LeMahieu on the IL to make room for Domínguez, leaving them with a crowded outfield. Still, we assume Domínguez will play most of the time and hopefully leave Verdugo in the dust if he can get off to a quick start. The 21-year-old was hitting .309/.368/.480 in 44 Triple-A games since returning from Tommy John (there was also an interruption caused by an oblique strain). He’s worth rostering in mixed leagues. Anyone holding on to Verdugo outside of deep AL-only formats needs to move on.
