Keider Montero allowed five runs over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Wednesday.
Montero got off to a good start, holding the Padres scoreless through three innings before Jackson Merrill took him deep for a three-run shot in the fourth. Manny Machado would drive in two more runs on a base hit in the fifth. Montero’s day would be done with one out in the inning with the game tied. The 24-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.47 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 60/26 K/BB ratio across 74 innings. He’s in line for a start against the Rockies in Detroit on Tuesday.
  • HOU Center Fielder #6

Jake Meyers is not in the lineup for Thursday’s bout against the Twins.
This makes three straight games that Meyers has been on the bench. There’s no known injury, so it appears Houston just feels more comfortable playing Chas McCormick and Mauricio Dubon in center right now, with Dubon getting the start Thursday. Hopefully a reporter for Houston will ask about that situation in the coming days.
  • ATH Third Baseman #11
Athletics reinstated INF Brett Harris off the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A.
Harris was already playing rehab games for Triple-A Las Vegas, so he doesn’t have to pack his bags. The 26-year-old could be an option for the Athletics by the end of 2025.
  • ARI Center Fielder #31
Jake McCarthy is not in the lineup for Thursday’s contest against the Yankees.
McCarthy will get a breather with Alek Thomas getting the start in center. Thomas and McCarthy appear to be splitting center in the early portion of the season, and neither is a great fantasy option for 2025.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #77
Luis Garcia has been diagnosed with elbow inflammation and will be shut down from throwing for four weeks.
Garcia’s recovery from Tommy John surgery has gone anything but smoothly, and the MRI revealed the latest setback. The right-hander could be an option this summer, but obviously fantasy managers shouldn’t count on it.
  • BOS Left Fielder #7
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) isn’t ready for a rehab assignment.
“He needs to make throws from the outfield. It’s not just standing there,” Cora said. “You have to make throws. So we’ll see how that goes.” Cora did acknowledge that Yoshida is throwing from 110 feet, so the progression is taking place, it’s just not ready for game action. It remains to be seen when Yoshida will get back into the Boston lineup.
  • SEA Third Baseman #27
Mariners INF prospect Tyler Locklear went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI for Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old struggled in his 49-plate-appearance MLB debut in 2024 but has gone 5-for-13 with one home run and four RBI in his first four games in Triple-A. Perhaps more importantly, he has four walks and four strikeouts. The Mariners are currently using Rowdy Tellez and Mitch Garver at designated hitter, so if Locklear can have a good first month or so in Triple-A, he should get another shot.
  • COL Second Baseman #1
Rockies INF prospect Adael Amador went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and a stolen base on Wednesday for Triple-A Albuquerque.
The 21-year-old made a brief MLB debut in 2024 but was largely inconsistent in Triple-A last year. So far this season, he has gone 5-for-17 with one stolen base. He could enter the conversation at second base if Tyler Freeman or Kyle Farmer begins to struggle. Although, we should also keep an eye on Ryan Ritter, who has been playing shortstop for Albuquerque and has gone 7-for-16 with two home runs to start the season.
  • SD Right Fielder #39
Oscar Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs for Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.
The Padres signed Oscar Gonzalez in the off-season, and he had a nice spring, going 22-for-55 (.400) with three RBI, 11 strikeouts, and two walks. He has gone just 3-for-18 in Triple-A so far, but the two home runs demonstrate the power potential he possesses, and there is a chance he gets a shot with the Padres at some point this season.
  • CWS Shortstop #85
White Sox INF prospect Chase Meidroth went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
We thought Meidroth had a chance to take the starting shortstop job from Jacob Amaya in spring, but it didn’t happen. Still, Meidroth went to Triple-A and has gone 5-for-17 with two home runs, five walks, and three strikeouts in five games. He demonstrated the same elite plate discipline in spring training and should get a shot with the White Sox soon.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher
Twins RHP prospect Andrew Morris threw five shutout innings with four strikeouts and one walk for Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday.
Morris allowed five hits but only one extra base hit. The 23-year-old gets lost in the shuffle amongst Twins pitching prospects like David Festa and Zebby Matthews, but Morris posted a 2.37 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 133/32 K/BB ratio in 133 innings split across three minor league levels in 2024. He will likely see innings for the Twins this season.
