7yMatthew Borchert shot 3-under-par 73-73-71-68=285 in the first stage of Q School at Grasslands Golf & Country Club in Lakelane, Fla., but fell short of advancing by nine strokes.

Borchert is a one-time member of the PGA TOUR, going 4-for-19 to rank 234th on the money list in 2009. Fellow former members Travis Perkins (6-under 282) and David Branshaw (2-under 286) were also eliminated at this site. Nineteen golfers advanced to the second stage, including co-medalists Sihwan Kim and Brandon Brown. They posted 20-under 268. The cut fell at 12-under 276.
