Jacob deGrom to return to Mets’ rotation Saturday

Mets rookie right-hander Jacob deGrom threw all of his pitches in a bullpen session Tuesday in Oakland without experiencing any discomfort in his shoulder and has been cleared to return to the starting rotation Saturday night against the Dodgers. This according to Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal.

The 26-year-old deGrom was placed on the 15-day disabled list August 11 (retroactive to August 8) with tendinitis in his right rotator cuff. He has posted an excellent 2.87 ERA, 1.226 WHIP, and 94/33 K/BB ratio over his first 100 1/3 innings at the major league level and should be part of a very good Mets rotation in 2015. Matt Harvey threw off a mound August 1 for the first time since his Tommy John surgery.
