The game in 100 words (or less): The New England Revolution have a problem — a goal-conceding problem, to be specific. Sure, they can outscore just about anyone on a given day, but that remains an ill-advised strategy over the course of a 34-game season. When the Revs acquired Kei Kamara back in mid-May, I opined that fixing their porous defense — not adding more offensive firepower — needed to be priority no. 1 for Jay Heaps’ side if they are to make any noise before or during the playoffs. Fast forward a month and a half, and the Revs are still a disaster defensively, most recently exemplified in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Montreal Impact, a game in which they held a 2-0 lead after 33 minutes, only to concede three times in 14 minutes and drop all three points. A win would have sent the Revs fourth in the Eastern Conference. Instead, they remain eighth, five points back of the now-second-place Impact.
