The internet.

A 10-year-old fan was all set to walk Reading out of the tunnel for Saturday’s FA Cup semifinal match against Arsenal until video footage of him saying he’d like to see the Gunners win enraged fans and negated his opportunity.

Before you get too “Oh come on” about it -- and believe us, you’re allowed to -- the FA has switched things around and will still give him a chance to walk onto the Wembley pitch before an upcoming England match.

A Huddersfield Town supporter, Ryan won the chance to walk Reading out after the Royals knocked off his club in the tournament’s third round. That’s when trouble hit.

From the Daily Mail:

‘Following Ryan’s interview in the local media, and with agreement from his family, it was decided to move his prize over to an England mascot place later this year,’ an FA spokesman is quoted as saying in getreading.

The FA reportedly offered Ryan two tickets to watch the semi-final in the Arsenal end but he refused, preferring to watch Huddersfield take on Derby in the Championship.

Let me just say that I love that last part. “Yeah I wanted Arsenal to win, but they aren’t my team. See you at the England match.”

Eighty-five percent of voters in Reading blog getreading approve the move, so there’s that.

What do you think? Fair or foul? Honestly, it probably worked out for the kid while also teaching him a valuable lesson about how seriously people take their sports (even if most of them would likely shy away from saying it away from the privacy of their own keyboards).
