Rumors know no window: Mata for Miranda swap, Rabiot in demand

juan_mata

That man Mata was United’s club record signing and will be integral if they’re going to make the top 4.

Despite the summer transfer window closing for business a few weeks back, there’s plenty of business that will be conducted in January and beyond. Occasionally, we’ll bring you an update on buzz running through the closed season mill.

We begin at Old Trafford, where rumors go to thrive. The Daily Express says Louis van Gaal is willing to move 26-year-old Spanish wizard Juan Mata to Atletico Madrid in order to ensure he lands 30-year-old defender Miranda, who scored his third goal of the season this week.

Mata could be surplus to requirements now that Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and the rest of Europe are forming United’s new midfield. And with the Red Devils defense in a bit of a mess, well, at least this rumor is plausible unlike a certain No. 7 returning from Real.

Nineteen-year-old PSG attacker and French youth international Adrien Rabiot is a name that continues to circle through the rumor mill. Arsenal has been connected with Rabiot, as has Tottenham, and now Tuttosport has essentially every major club in Italy interested in him. Oh, and -- surprise!! -- Manchester United wants him, too.

One more for United, as well as Arsenal and Manchester City: Fulham’s 17-year-old prospect Patrick Roberts.
