  • CIN Starting Pitcher #51
Graham Ashcraft allowed three runs over five innings on Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.
Ashcraft did his part in this one, managing to keep Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup in the yard, but didn’t get any run support at all from Cincinnati’s red-hot offense. He struck out five and also handed out three free passes. The 26-year-old righty will bring a serviceable 4.25 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 40/18 K/BB ratio across 48 2/3 innings (10 starts) into a rematch against the Dodgers on Friday at Great American Ball Park.
  • MIN Right Fielder #26
Max Kepler is day-to-day with elbow soreness.
Kepler managed to stay in Friday’s extra-inning marathon against the Athletics, eventually delivering the game-winning hit, after being hit by a pitch in the elbow earlier in the contest. He’ll benefit from Saturday’s rainout by getting some extra time to rest and recover. It’s possible he’ll be ready for the opening contest of Sunday’s doubleheader at Target Field.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #68
Angels selected the contract of RHP José Marte from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Marte hasn’t appeared in the majors since making 25 relief appearances for the Angels from 2021 to 2023. The 28-year-old righty will replace an injured Adam Cimber (shoulder) in Los Angeles’ bullpen. He’s pitched well this season for Triple-A Salt Lake with a 2.61 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20/9 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (20 appearances).
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #90
Angels placed RHP Adam Cimber on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
No word yet on how long Cimber will be sidelined. The 33-year-old righty has posted a calamitous 7.03 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 19/14 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (28 appearances) this season in his Angels debut.
  • FA Third Baseman #13
    Angels released INF Ehire Adrianza.
The move opens up a spot on Los Angeles’ 40-man roster. Adrianza has been on the injured list since mid-May due to back spasms.
  • MIA Second Baseman #2
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the division-rival Nationals.
It’s a rare day off for Chisholm, who has made an appeares in 68 of 69 contests this season for Miami. The talented 26-year-old outfielder is batting .254/.319/.435 with 10 homers and 13 steals in 285 plate appearances. It’ll be Dane Myers patrolling center field on Saturday afternoon in his absence.
  • TB Shortstop #7
José Caballero (illness) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.
Caballero will get an extra day off to rest and recover following an early exit from Friday’s showdown due to illness. It’ll be Amed Rosario taking a turn at shortstop on Saturday afternoon in his absence.
  • WAS Right Fielder #43
Nationals signed OF Harold Ramírez to a minor league contract.
It certainly didn’t take long for Ramírez to find a new opportunity after being released earlier this week by the Rays. However, it’s a bit surprising that he was forced to settle for a minor league deal. The 29-year-old corner outfielder boasts a solid .287/.325/.408 triple-slash line with 37 homers and 18 steals in 511 games in the majors since 2019. He’s batted .300 with 19 homers and 13 steals over the last three season for Tampa Bay and represents a solid depth addition for the rebuilding Nationals. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him in Washington very soon.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #43
Mariners sent LHP Kirby Snead outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Snead went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will remain with Seattle as extra organizational relief depth. The 29-year-old lefty has made 11 relief appearances in the majors this season and holds a respectable 5.09 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 58/37 K/BB ratio across 74 1/3 innings (79 appearances) since 2021 in the big leagues.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #17
Saturday’s game between the Athletics and Twins has been postponed due to inclement weather.
Rain in the forecast throughout the afternoon and evening in Minnesota made this one an easy call. It’ll be made up as a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon instead. Saturday’s scheduled starters -- Joey Estes and Bailey Ober -- will presumably be pushed back to take the ball at some point during Sunday’s twin bill at Target Field.
  • HOU Left Fielder #30
Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Saturday that Kyle Tucker (shin) might require a minor league rehab assignment.
Espada elaborated that Tucker might need some rehab games to get back up to speed if he doesn’t resume running at some point this weekend. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar has been out since early June recovering from a right shin contusion and has yet to resume baseball activities. There should be a clearer picture of his potential return timeline at some point in the coming days. It certainly doesn’t sound like he’s close at this juncture.
