Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.
Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week, but he’s best left on the bench until further notice.
  • CIN Center Fielder #12

Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters Austin Hays (hamstring) could return for Friday’s series opener against the Astros.
Hays hit the injured list last Friday with a mild left hamstring strain. It sounds like there’s a decent chance he’s back with Cincinnati later this week without needing a minor league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old outfielder has gotten off to a torrid start in his Reds debut, hitting .365/.431/.712 with five homers, 13 RBI and one steal through 13 games.
Add Orioles' Mayo, Athletics' Hoglund in fantasy
Eric Samulski shares why fantasy managers looking for upside waiver-wire pickups should consider a top prospect with the Orioles and an under-the-radar arm emerging with the Athletics.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Spencer Strider (hamstring) has been cleared to begin long tossing.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said Monday that Strider is progressing well in his recovery from a Grade 1 hamstring strain that put him on the shelf back on April 21. It’s unclear when he’ll resume throwing bullpen sessions again, which makes it challenging to forecast his potential return timeline. He’s still several weeks away from making it back to Atlanta, even if he makes rapid progress.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña Jr. (knee) will undergo a follow-up exam in Los Angeles before he’s cleared to start a minor league rehab assignment.
Acuña remains without a definitive return timetable for his season debut. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar will continue rehabbing in Florida until that follow-up visit takes place. Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters Monday he’s not sure when that re-evaluation in Los Angeles will take place. Fantasy managers will have to remain patient for now. It’s going to qualifty as a surprise if Acuña makes it back to Atlanta before the end of May.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #0
Marcus Stroman (knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday.
Stroman has been on the shelf since mid-April due to left knee inflammation, which required a cortisone injection. The 34-year-old righty is likely a couple weeks away from a minor league rehab assignment, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in June.
  • TEX Manager
Rangers hired Bret Boone as their next hitting coach.
The move comes less than 24 hours after the Rangers fired offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker, who spearheaded the club’s hitting efforts since 2022. Boone, the older brother of Yankees manager Aaron Boone, hasn’t held a coaching position in the big leagues since retiring from a 14-year career back in 2005.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #56
Hunter Harvey (shoulder) faced hitters on Monday in a live batting practice session.
It’s likely Harvey’s final step before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old high-leverage reliever has been out since mid-April recovering from a Grade 1 teres major sprain in his shoulder. It certainly seems like there’s a chance he’s back in Kansas City’s bullpen before the end of the month.
  • HOU Catcher #18
Astros recalled C César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Salazar joins Houston’s active roster ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Brewers with primary offensive catalyst Yordan Alvarez hitting the injured list with hand inflammation. The 29-year-old backstop can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats,
  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Astros placed OF Yordan Alvarez on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 3, with right hand inflammation.
Not great. Alvarez heads to the injured list after sitting out a pair of games over the weekend with a lingering right hand issue. Astros manager Joe Espada didn’t seem too concerned over the weekend, so this certainly qualifies as a mild surprise. No word yet on how much time he’s going to miss, but we’re not anticipating an extended absence. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status at some point this week after Alvarez undergoes further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #18
Cubs placed LHP Shota Imanaga on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
The Cubs have Thursday off, so they don’t necessarily have to replace Imanaga until May 13. Chris Flexen is the guy already on the roster who could step in, but most would rather see Cade Horton make his major league debut. Jordan Wicks is another possibility, as he’s gotten stretched back out after a brief stint as a reliever.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi (calf) is not in the lineup for Monday’s showdown against the Royals.
Benintendi will take a seat for Monday’s series opener after making an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Astros with left calf tightness. It’ll be veteran Michael A. Taylor taking his spot in left field for now.
