Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.
Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week, but he’s best left on the bench until further notice.

James Wood went 0-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base against the Marlins on Sunday.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto (shoulder) played nine innings at shortstop in his latest minor league rehab game at Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Angels’ skipper Ron Washington had said that Neto would play nine innings at shortstop there next week, but it looks like he may be a bit ahead of schedule. The final hurdle for Neto to clear is playing nine innings at shortstop in consecutive games, which sounds like it could happen early next week. His return is imminent.
  • MIA Shortstop #9
Xavier Edwards went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base against the Nationals on Sunday.
  • MIA 1st Baseman #36
Matt Mervis went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run against the Nationals on Sunday.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #99
Spencer Strider (elbow) remains on track to make his highly-anticipated season debut with the Braves on Wednesday against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Strider made it through his side session without any issues on Sunday, so as long as he continues to feel good over the next couple of days it sounds like the Braves’ ace will make his season debut on Wednesday. Fantasy managers in weekly leagues can finally rejoice and insert Strider into lineups for next week.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #47
Cal Quantrill allowed three runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Marlins’ 11-4 victory over the Nationals on Sunday.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #1
MacKenzie Gore allowed four runs in six innings and took the loss against the Marlins on Sunday.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #74
Ryan Walker struck out one in a scoreless ninth to lock down a save in a 5-4 win over the Yankees on Sunday.
Walker needed 18 pitches to navigate the frame, but he didn’t allow a single baserunner and now has four saves on the season for the Giants.
  • SF Center Fielder #51
Jung Hoo Lee went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in a win over the Yankees on Sunday.
We knew that Lee was a pretty solid player despite his injury-shortened 2024 season, but the power he’s put on display recently has been a surprise. The 26-year-old laced a 406-foot home run at 103.2 mph off the bat in the fourth inning and then followed that up with a slightly less impressive 363-foot home run at 94.5 mph off the bat. He now has three home runs and 11 RBI on the season, and while the power might not stick, the batting average should, and his spot in the middle of the order will give him solid counting stat upside. You should be feeling pretty good about yourself if you picked him up on waiver wires.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #35
Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell told reporters on Sunday that left-hander Justin Steele will undergo season-ending surgery on his left elbow.
It didn’t sound good when news broke that Steele was seeking a second opinion on Friday and now the unfortunate news hits that he’ll go under the knife and miss the rest of the season. It’s unclear if he’ll undergo the traditional Tommy John procedure or the internal brace procedure, so it’s tough to speculate on just how long he’ll be shelved for. It’s a very tough break for fantasy managers in redraft leagues who now need to cut bait with someone who was drafted to be a staple in their starting rotation.
