NBA DFS Plays: Thursday 11/21

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

This article aims to highlight some of the best NBA DFS Plays at every position for your cash game lineups. Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NBA News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We’ll take a look at the two-game main slate starting at 8:00 ET on Thursday.

POINT GUARD

Eric Bledsoe - Milwaukee (vs. Portland)

Bledsoe is the most reliable point guard option on the board, and it’s not even close. He’s fresh off a 41 FP outing against the Hawks, and Bledsoe’s efficiency makes him a bankable fantasy option despite tallying less than 30 minutes in four of his last five games. Facing a hobbled Portland team (Lillard out) that ranks 28th in defensive efficiency to point guards should help him tally another solid fantasy total.

Also Consider: Jevon Carter, Anfernee Simons (if playing)

SHOOTING GUARD

CJ McCollum - Portland (at Milwaukee)

As mentioned earlier, Damian Lillard is out and Anfernee Simons is questionable for Portland. Big man Hassan Whiteside is questionable as well. McCollum was already looking at a massive workload with Lillard sidelined, but he would need to absorb even more usage if Simons and/or Whiteside can’t play. McCollum is a DFS building block regardless of how those injury situations play out, as volume should drive him against a Milwaukee team that ranks below average in defensive efficiency to backcourts.

Also Consider: Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick (if L.Ball OUT)

SMALL FORWARD

Giannis Antetokounmpo - Milwaukee (vs. Portland)

Do we really need a full write-up here? Antetokounmpo makes for a foundation play on tonight’s brief two-game slate, and the matchup looks great against a Portland team that ranks 23rd in team defensive efficiency. This game has a lofty over/under (238), and Antetokounmpo is far and away the best player within that. The reigning MVP will continue to hold fantastic upside in his back pocket with Khris Middleton sidelined.

Also Consider: Carmelo Anthony, Nassir Little

POWER FORWARD

Frank Kaminsky - Phoenix (vs. New Orleans)

Kaminsky makes for a decent mid-range play while averaging 25 FPPG over his last four outings. Granted, there has been some volatility within those games, but Kaminsky’s minutes/opportunities should spike with Phoenix center Aron Baynes ruled out. Making matters even better, Kaminsky will be playing up in pace against a generous New Orleans team that ranks 20th in rebound rate.

Also Consider: Dario Saric, Nicolo Melli (only if J.Okafor OUT)

CENTER

Brook Lopez - Milwaukee (vs. Portland)

We’ll need to monitor the injury report before deciding on a center. Hassan Whiteside makes for a strong candidate if he’s playing (questionable). Jaxson Hayes represents a bargain option if Jahlil Okafor (questionable) is out. However, Brook Lopez is the most reliable lift of the position. He has notched 43, 52, and 31 fantasy points respectively in his past three games, so it’s nice to see that he’s fully capable of upside. Tonight’s matchup is a good one too, facing a Portland team that ranks 28th in defensive efficiency to centers.

Also Consider: Hassan Whiteside (if playing), Jaxon Hayes (if J.Okafor OUT)

ADDITIONAL NOTES

My favorite tournament move of this slate results in fading Giannis Antetokounmpo and spending the savings on a combination like Brandon Ingram and Kelly Oubre Jr. From here, we’ll need to cross our fingers that Giannis is human tonight while Ingram and Oubre take care of business.

Jevon Carter is a respectable value filler with Ricky Rubio doubtful for the Suns. However, don’t overlook Tyler Johnson in this spot either. Both of them saw 24 minutes apiece the last time Rubio was sidelined. Even though Carter will likely start, he may not be the best play of this duo. Food for thought in tournaments.

Lonzo Ball is questionable tonight. If he’s still out, JJ Redick could see more playing time alongside Brandon Ingram and Jrue Holiday, making for an interesting value fallback in that scenario.

If Hassan Whiteside (questionable) is out, Skal Labissiere becomes a strong DFS value through all formats. The Blazers would be ridiculously thin up front in that scenario with Skal being one of the few legitimate bodies to cover the post.
