POINT GUARD
Chris Paul - Oklahoma City (at LA Lakers) - DK: $7,900 / FD: $7,300 / Yahoo: $17
Paul has been decent in his two restart games, but I’m expecting him to really take off tonight. The veteran will check into a competitive tilt against the Lakers, a game that should require plenty of minutes and fantasy opportunities as Oklahoma City’s floor general. The absence of Dennis Schroder could help CP3 as well, given the Thunder will be without another playmaker. Paul’s salary is attainable across every DFS sites, and I’m viewing him as a strong fantasy asset through all formats.
Also Consider: Dejounte Murray, Monte Morris (FD & Yahoo), Brad Wanamaker (see bargain section)
SHOOTING GUARD
Donovan Mitchell - Utah (vs. Memphis) - DK: $7,500 / FD: $7,300 / Yahoo: $29
Mitchell has topped the 40 fantasy point threshold in two of three restart games, and I believe he’ll get there tonight as well. The matchup looks great against Memphis, who ranks 28th in defensive efficiency to opposing shooting guards. The Grizzlies surrendered plenty of backcourt production to the Blazers and Spurs over the last week, and it’s time for Mitchell feast on this appetizing draw.
Also Consider: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Marcus Smart
SMALL FORWARD
Gordon Hayward - Boston (vs. Brooklyn) - DK: $7,100 / FD: $6,100 / Yahoo: $29
Hayward was pretty “blah” yesterday against Miami, but I’m expecting a huge bounce-back effort tonight. Kemba Walker will not play for Boston, meaning Hayward could absorb more playmaking responsibilities. The matchup coincides beautifully too, as the Celtics will face a depleted Brooklyn squad that has been thrashed by wing players like Troy Brown Jr. and Evan Fournier since the restart. In other words, Hayward has a clear path to fantasy value if he seizes it.
Also Consider: Jaylen Brown, Troy Brown Jr. (see bargain section)
POWER FORWARD
Brandon Clarke - Memphis (at Utah) - DK: $4,600 / FD: $4,900 / Yahoo: $19
Michael Porter Jr. - Denver (at San Antonio) - DK: $6,200 / FD: $5,500 / Yahoo: $14
Both of these plays are so good, I had to list both in this spot. Clarke and Porter make for an easy 1-2 punch at power forward (Porter listed as SF on Yahoo). Their salaries are comfortable across the board, and both young players will benefit from more minutes/usage due to injury situations. Jaren Jackson Jr. is out for the Grizzlies, so Clarke should see a full complement of minutes to easily hit value. Porter is fresh off a 56 FP showing against Oklahoma City, and the salary has yet to fully adjust for his heightened role (Barton, Harris out; Murray highly questionable).
Also Consider: Jayson Tatum, Paul Millsap
CENTER
Nikola Jokic - Denver (at San Antonio) - DK: $9,700 / FD: $9,100 / Yahoo: $44
Jokic is expensive, but he should be worth every penny tonight. There’s more than enough value to make him work in most lineup combinations, and the big man will be facing a Spurs team that ranks 23rd in defensive efficiency to centers. Joel Embiid was able to dominate San Antonio on Monday (27-9-5), and I’d be surprised if Jokic didn’t follow suit.
Also Consider: Joel Embiid, Jakob Poeltl
BEST BARGAINS
Make no mistake about it, Brandon Clarke (PF - MEM) and Michael Porter Jr. (PF - DEN) are the best bargains on the board tonight. You can see their write-ups above.
Monte Morris (PG - DEN) finds himself on the DFS radar for FanDuel and Yahoo if Jamal Murray misses another game. That would leave Morris with another starting role with a projected 32+ minutes. With the help of overtime, he was able to post 31 FP in 38 minutes on Monday against OKC. Now he’ll face a Spurs team that ranks 27th in defensive efficiency to point guards.
Brad Wanamaker (PG - BOS) is a better play on DraftKings than FanDuel or Yahoo, as dirt-cheap commodities are harder to come by on DK. Kemba Walker will not play tonight, which should put Wanamaker in a solid 25-minute role with some opportunities to make fantasy noise. It helps that he’s facing a depleted Brooklyn backcourt.
Troy Brown Jr. (SF - WAS) didn’t live up to expectations last game, but the Wizards still need him as a playmaker with Bradley Beal sidelined. Today’s matchup with Philadelphia is a tough one, but Brown still retains upside with an abundance of opportunities to post numbers.
GPP PIVOTS
Tobias Harris (SF - PHI) will likely fly under the radar. Most people will gravitate towards LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Davis, or the bargains at forward tonight. Harris isn’t quite as expensive as the LeBron’s of the world, yet he could check in with a similar fantasy total. Tobias has quietly poured in 46 and 41 fantasy points respectively since the restart, and now he’s facing one of the worst defenses in basketball: Washington.
