Each offseason the NBA hoops landscape is drastically altered by trades, extensions and free agent signings. Some are high-profile deals like Lonzo Ball joining the Bulls or Kemba Walker agreeing to a buyout with OKC to ink a deal with his hometown Knicks. Most transactions are less glamorous, though sometimes just as impactful for fantasy purposes. There have been a deluge of moves, and Ryan Knaus discusses 151 of them in the full version of his Offseason Transactions column, exclusively available in the 2021-22 EDGE+ Draft Guide!
No matter how you play fantasy, the NBC Sports EDGE+ Draft Guide has it covered:

- 300+ in-depth player profiles with 2020-21 recaps, offseason updates and fantasy outlooks
- Deep-dive statistical projections for 300+ players and fantasy category

Here is a preview of transactions for the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets. In the full version, you can sort by team, player, transaction type, salary, etc. This is not a comprehensive list and the salary information is whatever I could glean from such resources as Basketball Insiders, Spotrac, and of course Woj on Twitter. Rookie contracts and two-way deals aren’t included here, though we dive into rookies elsewhere in the Draft Guide and the rankings.
Player | Team | Ryan’s Notes | Changed Team? | Transaction Type | Years | Total $ (millions) | $/year (millions) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
ATL | Capela reprises a role that netted him 15.2 pts, league-high 14.3 reb, 2.0 blk and 59.5% FG last season. He may lose you one category (FT%) but win you 2-3 in the bargain. | No | Extension | 2 | 45.4 | 22.7 | |
ATL | Traded from SAC to ATL. A sneaky roto value in 2020-21 (with 27.7 mins per game), Wright’s playing time is likely to wither with the Hawks. | Yes | Trade |
| |||
ATL | Atlanta gets proven, veteran depth and a guy who can stretch the court (35.7% from deep), but Dieng will fight with Onyeka Okongwu for second-unit minutes. | Yes | FA Signing | 1 | 4 | 4 | |
ATL | Collins’ bet on himself paid off nicely. He even gets a player option in 2025-26. His role in ATL isn’t ideal for fantasy, but he’s durable and has a high floor (50ish last year) and high ceiling (first-round value in 2019-20). | No | FA Signing | 5 | 125 | 25 | |
ATL | Williams shot 38.9% with ATL last season, but was 44.4% from deep. Even if he’s shooting well, he shouldn’t be called on for more than 18-22 minutes a night. | No | FA Signing | 1 | 5 | 5 | |
ATL | Hill’s presence in the Hawks’ rotation was exasperating at times in 2020-21. But with De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish both healthy for training camp, Hill is just emergency depth. | No | FA Signing | 1 | 2.4 | 2.4 | |
ATL | Early Termination Option in 2025-26. Atlanta cements their franchise cornerstone. Trae’s averages dipped last year in points (-4.3), threes (-1.2), boards (-0.4) and steals (-0.3), yet he still hovered around first-round value. The best is yet to come. | No | Extension | 5 | 172.6 | 34.5 | |
BKN | Blake is back, but so is Nicolas Claxton and now the Nets have LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap…it should be interesting in reality, if not fantasy. | No | FA Signing | 1 | 2.6 | 2.6 | |
BKN | Signed qualifying offer as restricted FA. Unless injuries strike the Nets’ roster again, Brown’s role will necessarily decrease. | No | FA Signing | 1 | 4.7 | 4.7 | |
BKN | There are backup SG minutes available, though not enough for Bembry to intrigue fantasy GMs. | Yes | FA Signing | 1 | 1.9 | 1.9 | |
BKN | Johnson is buried on the Nets’ depth chart. | Yes | FA Signing | 1 | 2.6 | 2.6 | |
BKN | KD played 35 games last season, but was All-Universe in the playoffs and then carried Team USA to a gold medal. Even if his over/under for games is 55, he’s still a viable first-round pick. | No | Extension | 4 | 194 | 48.5 | |
BKN | Aldridge was medically cleared after a brief retirement, so that’s awesome. But he’ll be playing the smallest role of his career while chasing a ring. | No | FA Signing | 1 | 2.6 | 2.6 | |
BKN | Mills pulled off a nifty trick in free agency, getting paid well and joining a contender. He’s just a 3-point specialist. | Yes | FA Signing | 2 | 12.1 | 6.1 | |
BKN | Millsap passed up more cash from other teams to play for the Nets. His sacrifice will extend to the court, where his minutes should be limited even if he does wind up starting. | Yes | FA Signing | 1 | 2.6 | 2.6 | |
BKN | Traded from DET to BKN. The Nets are simply overflowing with veteran forwards. Doumbouya wasn’t very good last season, either, so there’s no cause for optimism. | Yes | Trade |
