  • TEN Tight End #85
Titans TE Chig Okonkwo is listed as a co-starter alongside Josh Whyle for Week 1.
Without buying too far into depth charts, it’s notable that Okonkwo is not listed as the starting tight end alone for Week 1 against Chicago. Okonkwo is coming off a down 2023 season in which he averaged a meager 1.6 yards per route run and Whyle has drawn praise from Titans coaches this summer. Look for Okonkwo and Whyle to split pass-catching duties to start the season.
  • HOU Tight End #86
Dalton Schultz caught all three of his targets for 16 yards in the Texans’ Week 1 win over the Colts.
To no one’s surprise, the addition of Stefon Diggs ate directly into Schultz’s target share. He saw 17 percent of the Texans’ targets in 2023. That number plummeted to nine percent in Week 1. With three elite receivers all deserving of targets on the field alongside him, Schultz is going to struggle to earn looks consistently. He will rank as a touchdown-or-bust TE2 for the Texans’ Week 2 game against the Bears.
  • CHI Running Back #4
D’Andre Swift rushed 10 times for 30 yards in the Bears’ Week 1 win over the Titans.
  • NE Wide Receiver #11
Tyquan Thornton caught 2-of-3 targets for 27 yards in Week 1 against the Bengals.
Thornton ran 21 routes as part of a mix of four Patriots wide receivers that split playing time. This wide receiver rotation is enough to keep them all from fantasy relevancy until a receiver or two separate themselves. Thorton appeared to be emerging as one of the top receivers in training camp, but that didn’t lead to significant usage in the season opener. He’s in wait-and-see mode heading into Week 2’s home matchup with the Seahawks.
  • JAX Running Back #4
Tank Bigsby had 12 rushes for 73 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 1 loss against the Dolphins.
Bigsby ran tough all day and earned a split in the Jaguars backfield, with Travis Etienne also seeing 12 rushing attempts. Forty-seven of Bigsby’s 73 yards came after contact. Etienne was the clear pass-catching back in Week 1, but Bigsby showed he could be a 1b option in the running game this season. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
  • NE Wide Receiver #3
DeMario Douglas caught 2-of-3 targets for 12 yards in Week 1 against the Bengals.
Douglas ran the most routes (22) of any of the Patriots’ four wide receivers, but there’s enough receivers in the mix here to keep them all from fantasy relevancy. It doesn’t help that Jacoby Brissett is going to be the quarterback for the early part of the season in New England. Douglas might be the preferred option in the Patriots receiving game, but that’s hardly a valuable role heading into Week 2' home date against the Seahawks.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #12
Nico Collins caught 6-of-8 targets for 117 yards in the Texans’ Week 1 win over the Colts.
Though Stefon Diggs came down with both of the Texans’ receiving touchdowns, 2023’s breakout receiver still got home by maxing out his efficiency once again. Collins operated deep and over the middle of the field, resulting in multiple chunk plays including a 55-yard catch. He led the Texans with eight targets which was good for a 25 percent target share. Despite the Diggs touchdown bonanza, Collins has to be treated as C.J. Stroud’s top receiving option. He will sit on the WR1/2 borderline for his Week 2 matchup with the Bears.
  • TB Cornerback #34
Bucs CB Bryce Hall is out for the remainder of Week 1 against the Commanders with an ankle injury.
Hall suffered a gruesome injury on a tackle where his ankle bent in a way it shouldn’t have, and it was clear right away that he was in major pain. His ankle was put in an air cast and he was carted off the field, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he was out for a while. The Bucs cornerback depth is a major concern right now with Tyrek Funderburk inactive and both Zyon McCollum and Josh Hayes out with injuries. If Jayden Daniels can’t beat this secondary through the air in the second half, there may be some concerns about his passing ability.
  • NE Wide Receiver #2
K.J. Osborn caught 3-of-6 targets for 21 yards in Week 1 against the Bengals.
Osborn played the most snaps (39) and had the most targets of the Patriots’ receivers, but the fact that four different receivers are splitting work keeps any of them from being fantasy relevant. It doesn’t help that Jacoby Brissett is throwing the passes for New England for the time being. Osborn isn’t usable outside of deep formats heading into Week 2 against the Seahawks at home.
  • ATL Tight End #8
Kyle Pitts caught 3-of-3 targets for 26 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 1 loss to the Steelers.
Pitts scored the game’s lone touchdown, sitting wide open in the end zone in the second quarter for a 12-yard score. He wasn’t used much else, with Charlie Woerner seeing a target before he did. The Falcons offense still has a ways to go, but fantasy mangers will be happy seeing the touchdown in Pitts’ scoresheet. Pitts is a back-end TE1 heading into Week 2 against the Eagles.
  • TEN Running Back #20
Tony Pollard rushed 16 times for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Titans’ Week 1 loss to the Bears, adding three receptions for 12 yards.
It was an extremely bizarre game where the Titans were both in milk-it mode up 17-0 and comeback mode down 24-17. Whatever the mode, Pollard was the lead back over Tyjae Spears, out-touching his supposedly “interchangeable” backfield mate 19-8. The majority of Pollard’s production did come in the Titans’ profitable first quarter, including his 26-yard touchdown where the Titans set the edge and sprung Pollard to the second level essentially untouched. We would not consider the matter “case closed” after one weird game, but Pollard is obviously the fantasy play over Spears for the time being, and is looking RB2 relevant ahead of a tough Week 2 matchup with the Jets.
