Capuano to give it another try with Milwaukee

Former 18-game winner Chris Capuano will attempt another comeback with the Brewers after agreeing to a minor league deal on Monday. Capuano, who went 18-12 with a 3.99 ERA in 2005 and was an All-Star in 2006, hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2007. He underwent surgery on his non-throwing shoulder after that season and then required Tommy John surgery in May 2008. It was his second Tommy John surgery, with the first coming back in 2002. The hope was that Capuano would be an option for the Brewers last June or July, but he made slow progress and pitched only nine innings in the minors over the course of the season. He’s expected to be ready to compete for a job in spring training, but he’ll almost certainly get some minor league time in April and May before the Brewers consider returning him to the rotation.
