The Trail Blazers have 15 guaranteed contracts in place for next season, the maximum allowed under NBA rules. That fact makes any addition of a player at this point nothing more than an extra training camp body, especially one who went undrafted this summer.

E.J. Singler falls into that category, but he’ll get his opportunity after signing with the Blazers on Wednesday, according to a team release.

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports that Singler is one of two non-roster camp invites, and that he, along with Dee Bost, will likely begin the season with Portland’s D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede.

Singler is a local product, having played his college ball at the University of Oregon. As a senior in 2012-13, he averaged 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 31 minutes per game, and helped his team to its first Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2007.
