Chris Paul may be back by weekend

And the New Orleans backcourt situation is about to get interesting.

Chris Paul, who underwent knee surgery on Feb. 4, has been back practicing before games -- running, taking shots and generally looking good. Good enough to be playing this weekend, according to the Times Picayune (easily my favorite newspaper name in the nation).

Paul could return this Saturday against Utah or on Monday night at home against the Dallas Mavericks.

“It’s amazing just weeks ago, I was like will I ever get back,’' Paul said. “But now to be almost there gives me a lot of hope and something to be excited about. I’m moving pretty good right now, but I still have a little ways to go.’'

Now the question: What to do with Darren Collison?

The speedy point guard out of UCLA has been showing maybe it was Ben Howland’s offense that was holding him back. In his last 10 games Collison has been the starter at the point and averaged 18.6 points, 11.1 assists and shot 44.8 percent from three.

Collison will go back to the bench, but how will he play in that role again? How will the Hornets deal with playing time? It’s about the only thing interesting left to watch in this Hornet’s season.
