Tuesday’s 0-0 draw between Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen was just about as entertaining as you can get in a scoreless match.

Hugo Lloris’ key save on Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez early in the second half was undoubtedly the most critical point in the match, but the Spurs keeper told reporters after the UEFA Champions League meeting that sometimes luck plays a part in the outcome.

In the 48th minute, Hernandez found himself in on goal and nearly rolled his effort across the line, but Lloris made an unbelievably athletic maneuver to keep just enough of the ball out of the net.

“You need a bit of luck in that kind of action and this time I saved the goal,” Lloris told BT Sport. “It was a key moment but it was not the only one. We should have scored in the first half and then the game would have been much different.

“I think we all want to go back to Wembley. The first game against Monaco is still in our minds and we want revenge for everyone and all the fans, they deserve more.”

Tottenham currently sits second in Group E through three matches, trailing Monaco by one point. Spurs will host Leverkusen again in two weeks time when the German side travels to Wembley Stadium to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s group.
