  • MIA Third Baseman #41
Marlins recalled INF Jonah Bride from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bride is up to take the roster spot of Luis Arraez after Arraez was traded to the Padres. Bride went 1-for-7 in his limited action with Miami earlier in the year, and he likely will only be a bench option while with the Marlins in this chance.
  • PIT First Baseman #44
Rowdy Tellez went 3-for-5 with two RBI as the Pirates topped the Rockies 8-2 on Sunday.
Tellez is up to .419 with nine RBI in just 31 at-bats this month. There still isn’t really any mixed-league value here, but it should be quite a while before he’s again left out of the Pirates lineup against a right-hander.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #28
Josh Fleming, who was called up by the Pirates on Friday, pitched four scoreless innings in a start Sunday versus the Rockies.
The Pirates could have used an opener today to give Fleming a shot at a win, but they decided not to. The victory instead went to Carmen Mlodzinski, who entered with a 1-0 lead after four and worked two hitless frames. Fleming came into the day with a 5.68 ERA in one start and 16 relief appearances for the Pirates. He’s not assured additional starts.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #32
Dakota Hudson yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Pirates.
It was one-run through five, but the Pirates ended up totaling five runs against Hudson and Viktor Vodnik in the sixth, denying Hudson what would have been a fourth quality start in his last five tries. He fell to 2-9 with a 4.89 ERA.
  • COL Shortstop #1
Adael Amador went 0-for-3 on Sunday, leaving him 3-for-26 as a major leaguer.
Amador has hit the ball hard on occasion, but he’s sporting a .115/.115/.115 line through seven games. It doesn’t sound like Brendan Rodgers will be sidelined for long, so Amador will probably head back to the minors soon.
  • MIN Right Fielder #26
Max Kepler (elbow) returned to the Twins’ starting lineup for the nightcap of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.
Kepler was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Saturday — before that game was washed out by rain. He then sat out the first game of Sunday’s twin bill with a left-hander on the hill for the A’s, but he’s right back in his customary cleanup spot in the order for the second game on Sunday night.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Luis Rengifo was diagnosed with a left wrist contusion after being hit by a batted ball during Sunday’s contest against the Giants.
Presumably, he has already undergone imaging that ruled out any fractures, but the announcement from the Angels was simply that he was dealing with a left wrist contusion. It sounds like Rengifo was fortunate to have avoided any more serious injury, but his status should still be monitored over the next few days to be on the safe side.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Luis Rengifo was pulled from Sunday’s game against the Giants after injuring his left wrist in the fourth inning.
A hard-hit ball off the bat of Matt Chapman deflected off of Rengifo’s wrist at third base and he immediately went down in pain. He’ll head for imaging to see if there’s any damage structurally. The Angels should have an update on the dynamic 27-year-old infielder’s status after the game. Stay tuned.
  • LAD Shortstop #50
Mookie Betts was removed from Sunday’s battle against the Royals after being hit in the left hand/wrist area by a 98 mph fastball.
The 31-year-old superstar was in obvious pain afterwards and the Dodgers immediately made the call to replace him with pinch-runner Miguel Rojas. He’ll head for X-rays to see if there’s any structural damage. All fantasy managers can do now is wait and hope for the best. The Dodgers should have an update on his status shortly.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #31
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters on Sunday that as long as Max Scherzer bounces back alright following his minor league rehab start on Saturday, that he’ll join the Rangers’ rotation and make his 2024 regular season debut during the upcoming week.
Scherzer threw 79 pitches (55 strikes) over 4 2/3 innings in his final minor league tune-up at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday — giving up three runs on four hits and a pair of walks while punching out eight batters. He should slot into the Rangers’ rotation at some point during their weekend series against the Royals.
  • MIL Catcher #24
Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy said after Sunday’s victory over the Reds that William Contreras is being evaluated for a possible concussion.
Contreras took a glancing blow off of his head or neck on the final play of the game as Blake Perkins nailed the potential tying run at the plate to end the ballgame. The 26-year-old backstop remained on the ground for a few minutes afterwards, but ultimately was able to get up under his own power and was able to celebrate with his teammates. It doesn’t sound like anything serious, but fantasy managers may want to have an alternative option on hand for next week just to be on the safe side.
