Mariners optioned RHP Cody Bolton to Triple-A Tacoma.
With the team acquiring Michael Baumann from the Orioles yesterday, they needed to make space on the active roster, so Bolton will head to the minors. The 25-year-old had pitched to a 4.41 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 16 1/3 innings but struck out just 14 batters while walking eight. He figures to get another shot later in the season.

Justin Martinez (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Sunday.
Martinez was shut down earlier this month with shoulder inflammation and all indications are that he’s looked sharp since resuming a throwing program. There isn’t a clear timetable for his return at the moment, but all signs point to him returning to Arizona’s high-leverage mix by the end of May.
Reds, Greene 'avoid disaster' with groin strain
James Schiano explains how the Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Hunter Greene avoided disaster with his groin strain considering his history of arm injuries, and why fantasy managers should look to get him for cheap.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Blake Snell (shoulder) remains shut down from throwing.
It’s not a positive development that Snell is still dealing with shoulder issues five weeks after landing on the injured list with what was described as merely inflammation after an MRI didn’t reveal any structural damage. The 32-year-old southpaw remains without a definitive return timetable and fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in June. That rough estimate might be too optimistic if he’s not able to resume throwing in the next few weeks.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Trent Grisham is not in the lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Athletics.
Grisham will take a seat for Sunday’s series finale after going 1-for-9 over his last two games with slugger Ben Rice getting into the lineup at DH. The 28-year-old center fielder has put together an unexpected resurgence this season, hitting .276/.366/.612 with 21 runs scored, 10 homers and 20 RBI through 33 games.
  • BAL Left Fielder #13
Heston Kjerstad is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Angels.
Kjerstad takes a seat with lefty Tyler Anderson on the mound for Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. It’ll be right-handers Ramón Laureano and Tyler O’Neill in the outfield corners for the Orioles during the series finale.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #6
Hyeseong Kim is at second base and batting eighth on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Kim is hitting .316 (6-for-19) with zero extra-base hits and two steals in eight games since being called up last weekend to make his Dodgers debut. The versatile 26-year-old infielder has split time between second base and center field over the last week and figures to oscillate between the two spots moving forward. The lack of significant over-the-fence power limits his fantasy upside, but he projects as a decent batting average and steals source, especially in Los Angeles’ loaded lineup.
  • PHI Left Fielder #28
Phillies signed 1B Seth Beer to a minor league contract.
Beer returns to affiliated ball after launching four homers during a 14-game stint with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. The 28-year-old former first-round pick, who was included in the Zack Greinke deal back in 2019, spent all of last year in the Pirates’ system and hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since getting into 43 games for the Diamondbacks from 2021-2022.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #24
Nationals activated RHP Cade Cavalli from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Cavalli has completed a minor league rehab assignment from Tommy John surgery, but he’s not ready to return to the big leagues at this juncture. The 26-year-old former top prospect figures to be an option for the Nationals later this summer, but he’ll continue taking the ball at the Triple-A level for now.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with an illness.
Merrill served as one of San Diego’s primary catalysts during Saturday’s impressive 21-run explosion at Coors Field. The 22-year-old emerging franchise cornerstone will sit out Sunday’s series finale due to illness. It’ll be Tyler Wade taking over in center field with Gavin Sheets moving to the cleanup spot.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #66
Astros activated RHP Shawn Dubin from the 15-day injured list.
Dubin will rejoin Houston’s relief mix for Sunday’s game against the Reds. The 29-year-old has been out since spring training due to shoulder and ankle issues. He’ll likely be called upon to provide the Astros with some length behind starter Ryan Gusto for Monday’s game against the Royals.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #24
Orioles activated RHP Zach Eflin from the 15-day injured list.
Eflin returns to Baltimore’s rotation to take the ball for Sunday’s series finale against the Angels following a nearly five-week absence recovering from a low-grade lat strain. The 31-year-old righty lacks stratospheric strikeout upside, but he’s a quality option for fantasy managers as a top-60 range starting pitcher until further notice.
