David Beckham will miss another MLS match

The London 2012 games are over, glorious as they were.

So glorious, in fact, that they apparently exacted a heavy toll on David Beckham. What, with all that jetting back and forth for secret meetings, Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, etc., Beckham is apparently in need of some extra rest.

He won’t play tonight in Columbus, where the Crew returns to the field after its impossibly tough week, a difficult one for completely different reasons.

On one hand, the Galaxy didn’t miss its playmaking midfielder last weekend while clobbering Chivas USA.

On the other hand, Beckham is the face of MLS, and yet the fans in Columbus have seen him once in six years. The Galaxy will also be without Landon Donovan; he is in Mexico for tonight’s U.S. friendly.
