Cristiano Ronaldo in Miami, New York City or Los Angeles? Now, that would be pretty neat.
Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer, who has been named the World Player of the Year on three occasions during his career, turns 31 in February and despite having a contract which runs until 2018 at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Portuguese superstar seems to be thinking about the next step in his career.

Speaking to the BBC World Service, Ronaldo was asked about moving to New York City and/or the United States of America to play in Major League Soccer and his answer wasn’t exactly a come and get me plea, but it wasn’t far off.
Ah, so those reports about Ronaldo owning an apartment in Trump Tower in NYC isn’t true then? That’s a shame, anyway, the fact that Ronny confirmed his interest in living in the U.S. in the future will have league executives sitting up and taking notice as expansion sides in Miami and LA could be the perfect destination for Ronaldo to arrive and be the face of the league and new franchises.

Playing for New York City FC would be a great option too but, in reality, Ronaldo is probably three to four years, at least, away from contemplating a move to MLS.
That said, the fact that he sees it as a serious option says a lot, although you get the sense that if he leaves Real before 2018 or after his contract runs out then he could stay in Europe and play for Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United or one of the other big boys for a few seasons. After all, he would only be 33 at that point.
With Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Andrea Pirlo all heading to MLS after the age of 35, you’d expect Ronaldo to follow that trend if he decided to head Stateside.
