  • SEA Designated Hitter #2

Justin Turner went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI on Saturday, powering the Mariners to a 4-0 victory over the Mets.
Seriously, does anyone like haunting their former team more than Turner has to the Mets over the last few years? It’s been a bit of a lost year for the 39-year-old veteran this season, but he certainly showed up on Saturday evening against his former organization, scalding a run-scoring double in the opening frame off lefty Sean Manaea before adding an additional insurance run with a run-scoring single in the seventh inning. He’s had a pretty remarkable career since leaving New York, but we might be getting close to the finish line. Maybe there’s still some magic left in the tank to help get Seattle back to the postseason.

Rangers activated RHP Chris Martin from the 15-day injured list.
The 39-year-old right-hander will take the place of Kumar Rocker on the Rangers’ active roster. Martin has been shelved since May 19 due to fatigue in his pitching shoulder. Prior to landing on the injured list, he had compiled a stellar 1.83 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 23/3 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings of work while notching one save. He could push Robert Garcia for save chances once he settles back in.
'Hold on' to Braves' Harris II in fantasy leagues
Despite Michael Harris II's disappointing numbers thus far, Eric Samulski highlights why fantasy managers should still find a roster spot for the Braves' outfielder.

Rangers optioned RHP Kumar Rocker to Triple-A Round Rock.
Fresh off the injured list, the 25-year-old right-hander was blasted for five runs on six hits and a pair of walks over 3 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Wednesday. Rather than taking the ball again next week, the Rangers will have him work to get back on track in a minor league setting for now. It’s unclear who will start in his place on Tuesday against the Twins in Minneapolis.
  • ATH Catcher #23
Shea Langeliers was removed from Thursday’s game against the Twins due to left flank soreness.
The 27-year-old backstop had been 1-for-4 with a double and a pair of strikeouts prior to exiting. The severity of the injury is not yet known and with the Athletics holding a nine-run lead in the contest, it’s possible that they were just being overly cautious. Expect manager Mark Kotsay to provide an update on Langeliers’ status after Thursday’s game concludes.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #38
Royals designated RHP Thomas Hatch for assignment.
The 30-year-old right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Omaha just before the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader and now finds himself in roster limbo despite the fact that he didn’t pitch in that contest. It seems likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as depth for the Royals.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #55
Royals activated LHP Cole Ragans from the 15-day injured list.
The 27-year-old southpaw will make his triumphant return to the Royals’ rotation for the nightcap of Thursday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals. He has been shelved since the middle of May due to a left groin strain. Prior to landing on the shelf, Ragans had registered a 4.53 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 72/13 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings through his first nine starts. Fantasy managers can feel confidant rolling him out there against the Cardinals on Thursday evening.
  • CWS Shortstop #10
Chase Meidroth went 2-for-2 with an RBI and three walks as the White Sox topped the Tigers 3-2 in 10 innings Thursday.
Meidroth wasn’t involved when the White Sox scored in the 10th. Tigers reliever Beau Brieske opened that frame with an intentional walk of Andrew Benintendi, after which the White Sox dropped down a sac bunt to advance both runners and then won on what probably would have been a routine grounder to short if the infield hadn’t been in. Meidroth upped his average to .312 and his OBP to .401 today. Unfortunately, he’s 0-for-3 stealing bases over the last couple of weeks, and if he’s not stealing bases, it’s going to be very difficult for him to generate mixed-league value while hitting for no power in a bad lineup. To illustrate: he’s been on base 10 times the last three days without ever coming around to score.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Burke pitched seven innings and allowed two runs Thursday in a no-decision against the Tigers.
Both runs came in the seventh. Burke’s previous career high for innings was six, and it would have been better if things had stayed that way today. It didn’t cost the White Sox a win, as they prevailed in 10 innings, but Burke didn’t factor in after entering the seventh with a 2-0 lead. He’ll take a 3-6 record and a 4.03 ERA into his next start against the Astros.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #12
Casey Mize gave up two runs and walked four in 4 2/3 innings Thursday against the White Sox.
The White Sox swung at 42 of Mize’s 93 pitches and missed just four times. They collected six hits. It suggests this could have been an ugly one had Mize been facing a more capable offense. Since coming off the IL, Mize has allowed six earned runs and 18 hits in 13 innings over three starts. As great of a situation as Detroit is for pitchers right now, it’s probably not time to move on from Mize just yet. It might be soon, though. He’ll face the Orioles next.
  • DET Shortstop #27
Trey Sweeney was lifted for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 against the White Sox on Thursday.
The left-handed Sweeney was lifted today even though he had the platoon advantage against righty Sean Burke. Sweeney had a nice hot streak at the beginning of May, but he’s hit .121/.143/.121 over his last 20 games. The Tigers have both Javier Báez and Zach McKinstry capable of playing short, so Sweeney might not be long for the majors at this point.
  • DET Right Fielder #30
Kerry Carpenter returned to the lineup and went 1-for-3 as the Tigers’ DH on Thursday.
Carpenter didn’t start Wednesday because of hamstring tightness. He was removed for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning today, but that was probably mostly because the Tigers had a lefty in.
