Colorado State and Oregon State announced a two-game series spread across four years on Wednesday.
The Beavers will visit Colorado State on Sept. 23, 2017, and Rams will return the favor Sept. 12, 2020. The 2017 visit will be Oregon State’s first to Fort Collins; both of the teams’ previous contests took place in Corvallis, the most recent in 1975.
Oregon State will serve as the big-ticket item on Colorado State’s first non-conference slate in its new, on-campus stadium.
“We are extremely excited about the opening of our new stadium in 2017 and bringing Rams football back to campus,” said Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo in a statement. “We also want to play the most competitive schedule we can, and deliver to our fans the opportunity to see quality competition. Our 2017 non-conference schedule, with two opponents from the Pac-12 and one from the SEC will provide our program with the type of competition we need to prepare our team for Mountain West play.”
In addition to Oregon State, Colorado State will open with Colorado in Denver and host Abilene Christian while visiting Alabama.
Oregon State will open 2017 with Portland State in Corvallis and host Minnesota a week after that.
“Regional games are an important part of our non-conference scheduling philosophy,” Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen said. “A series with Colorado State provides a great opportunity for Beaver Nation to support us on the road, it’s a minimal travel burden for our team and provides for an attractive home game.”
