Ex-'Huskers OC Watson lands at Louisville

One day after Bo Pelini officially confirmed he had been replaced, without officially confirming he’d been dismissed/resigned, Shawn Watson has found himself a new place of employment.

In a release issued by the school, Louisville announced that Watson has been hired by head coach Charlie Strong to be the Cardinals’ quarterbacks coach. Watson will replace Mike Groh, who was hired earlier this month as Alabama’s wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator.

“I’m excited to join the staff at the University of Louisville, " said Watson in a statement. “I knew Charlie Strong and the entire staff were quality coaches and great character guys. I feel Charlie is building something special at the University of Louisville and it’s a very exciting time to be a part of that staff. I’m looking forward to getting started and getting to know the player.”

Watson had spent the past four seasons as Nebraska’s oft-criticized offensive coordinator.

On Wednesday, Pelini confirmed that running backs coach Tim Beck has been promoted to offensive coordinator, one of several changes the coach made to his Cornhuskers’ coaching staff.
