Nike consoles Oregon after BCS loss

Much like a parent waiting for their kid after a soccer game with Capri Suns and fruit cups, Nike is telling Oregon on a national scale, “It’s okay. You did the best you could.”

Not long after Oregon lost a heart-wrenching BCS Championship Game to Auburn, Nike, who has a long-standing relationship with the university thanks to former CEO Phil Knight, published an advertisement essentially patting the Ducks’ on the back (or feathers) for their efforts.

Everyone Loses Games. Few Change Them,” the ad read, with a picture of Oregon’s charcoal helmet. The ad originally ran in select newspapers and is now available as a desktop wallpaper on Nike.com.

The ad was the latest publicity gift for the program by Nike, which has already been responsible for the gazillion uniform combinations and state-of-the-art facilities Oregon players get to enjoy.
