Both divisions in the Big Ten will be up for grabs on the final weekend of the regular season, with five teams vying for two spots in Indianapolis for the Big Ten championship game. Oh yeah, and four of the five are also in the College Football Playoff hunt.
Most of the attention has gone to the Big Ten East with Ohio State and Michigan set to clash this Saturday at noon. The two teams are ranked in the top four, so this one has all the makings of a playoff-or-bust game beyond the Big Ten East title hopes. Who wins the division has become fairly straight forward but has three different scenarios in play.
- Michigan wins the Big Ten East with a win at Ohio State
- Ohio State wins the Big Ten East with a win over Michigan AND a Penn State loss to Michigan State
- Penn State wins the Big Ten East with a win over Michigan State AND a Michigan loss to Ohio State
Penn State and Michigan State will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, which means Penn State will know if the division can be won either before they begin playing or shortly after they start their game against the upset-minded Spartans.
The Big Ten West should be a bit simpler to figure out.
- Wisconsin wins the Big Ten West with a win over Minnesota
- Nebraska wins the Big Ten West with a win over Iowa AND a Wisconsin loss to Minnesota
This division appears to be Wisconsin’s as they have dominated the Gophers lately in the series.
