Panthers signed Michigan State LB Denicos Allen.
Allen (5-foot-10 1/4, 225) spent most of his time at strong-side linebacker for the Spartans as one of the unsung heroes of the nation’s No. 1-ranked defense. He finished his career with 46 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks. A safety-linebacker “tweener” who turns 24 before his rookie year, Allen will have to carve out a special teams role in Carolina long before he contributes on defense. He only ran 4.74 at Michigan State’s Pro Day, with a 29-inch vertical and 8-foot-9 broad jump.
