Tim McGauley has scored two goals and six points in his last two contests. That gives him 27 goals and 56 points in 46 contests with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Austin Carroll wasn’t taken until the 184th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but the Calgary Flames prospect has taken a step up this season. He’s recorded at least a point in 10 of his last 12 games, bringing him up to 56 points and 89 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Victoria Royals. By contrast, he had 57 points and 114 penalty minutes in 70 contests in 2013-14. Trevor Cox found the back of the net on Saturday to extend his point streak to five games. He has 17 goals and 73 points in 44 contests with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Ontario Hockey League
Mitchell Marner has been on fire lately, scoring six goals and 23 points in his last seven contests. The London Knights forward now leads the league with 34 goals and 90 points in 42 contests with the London Knights this season. He’s eligible for the 2015 draft and is a top-10 candidate. The Knights have a strong team that also includes Max Domi, who has a goal and five points in five contests since returning from gold medal-winning stint with Team Canada. The Arizona Coyotes prospect has 18 goals and 62 points in 32 contests. Dylan Strome had three assists on Saturday to increase his point streak to 11 games. He has 28 goals and 80 points in 43 contests with the Erie Otters this season. Ken Appleby earned a 33-save shutout on Sunday to give him a 1.78 GAA and .934 save percentage in six January starts. He has a 2.05 GAA and .925 save percentage in 33 games overall this season.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
Nikolaj Ehlers has been incredible since returning from the World Juniors. In four games, the Winnipeg Jets prospect has six goals and 11 points. That brings him up to 22 goals and 58 points in 27 contests in 2014-15. Anthony Beauregard was held off the scoresheet on Saturday, bringing an end to his 15-game point streak. He has 19 goals and 39 assists in 46 contests with the Val d’Or Foreurs. His teammate Anthony Richard managed to find the back of the net in that contest, so his own point streak was extended to nine contests. Richard has 31 goals and 61 points in 46 games. Danick Martel scored two goals on Saturday, giving him three goals and six points in his last three contests. Martel has 31 goals and 68 points in 44 games with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in 2014-15.
