Rangers signed LHP Andrew Mitchell to a minor league contract.
Mitchell, 28, was a 14th-round selection by the Mets from the 2018 draft class and spent his first five minor league seasons in their organization. In 2022, he posted a cringe-inducing 6.37 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 30/22 K/BB ratio over 29 2/3 innings between Double-A Binghampton and Triple-A Syracuse. He’ll function as bullpen depth in the upper minors to start the 2023 season.
