COLUMBUS, Ohio: Haiden Deegan swept both motos of Round 1 of the 2026 SuperMotocross Playoffs at Historic Crew Stadium to score his first overall victory in the class. Deegan came close several times during the Pro Motocross series, but that did not dull his enthusiasm for the final three races.
In the second moto, Deegan earned the holeshot with Ken Roczen in pursuit. The two riders raced within three seconds in the first half of the race, but after the halfway mark, Deegan stretched his advantage over Roczen and survived a couple of sketchy moments on the muddy track to out himself in the middle of the championship battle.
Deegan is now two points behind the new championship leader, Jorge Prado, entering Round 2 where the points are doubled.
Roczen was second overall with second-place results in both races. He skipped the entire Pro Motocross season, but as one of the veterans in the series, he trusted his experience to remount his charge after winning the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship.
Roczen ended the round fourth in the championship standings.
Cooper Webb slotted into third early in Moto 2 and kept his bike upright in tricky conditions to finish third overall. He showed flashes of speed in the first race, but slipped to ninth. He finished just off the overall podium in fourth
Meanwhile there was more trouble for Hunter Lawrence at the start of Moto 2. He crashed multiple times in the first race and finished 21st. He was outside the top 15 on Lap 2 of Moto 2, crashed at the halfway mark to complete his disappointing day.
Lawrence finished 15th overall and plummeted down the championship’ standings to sixth, 10 points behind the new leader Jorge Prado, after entering as the No. 1 seed
Malcolm Stewart and Jason Anderson came together on Lap 2 and sent both to the ground hard. Stewart helped Anderson to his feet, but the race was over for Anderson.
Jorge Prado took over the championship lead after finishing fourth in Moto 2 on the heels of a third in the first race.
Joey Savatgy and Aaron Plessinger battled hard for the fifth position throughout the race with Savatgy taking the position.
