Turkey’s Asli Cakir Alptekin was stripped of her 2012 Olympic 1500m gold medal for doping and will serve an eight-year ban, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said Monday.

Alptekin had abnormal values found in blood samples between July 2010 and October 2012 and was provisionally banned for blood doping in 2013.

Countrywoman Gamze Bulut earned silver in the 2012 Olympic 1500m. Bahrain’s Maryam Yusuf Jamal took the bronze.

Russian Tatyana Tomashova finished fourth. Tomashova, the 2004 Olympic 1500m silver medalist, missed the 2008 Olympics due to a two-year doping ban.
