Updates
GOAL! Porto 0-1 Man City: Haaland opens the scoring after halftime (47')

Porto are yet to have a shot in the game and Man City have had 70 percent of possession thus far, but the opening goal eluded them for 45 minutes. 90 seconds into the second half, though…

GOAL! Real Madrid 2-0 Inter Milan: Valverde pounces on the GK (23')

Oh no, Josep Martinez. As if Real Madrid needed any help scoring goals, the Inter goalkeeper has handed them one on a silver platter.

GOAL! Real Madrid 1-0 Inter Milan: Mbappe opens the scoring (14')

Kylian Mbappe received the Golden Boot for finishing as top scorer of last season’s Champions League, then he got right to work on winning his next one. 14 minutes gone, Real Madrid lead. This has the feel of a proper Champions League belter, on matchday 1.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deemed to have handled the ball inside the penalty while defending a cross, and Nicolo Tresoldi put the penalty away to make it 3-2.

GOAL! Club Brugge 1-3 Aston Villa: Jackson scores just before halftime (44')

Brugge have had a few chances over the course of 45 minutes, but Aston Villa have really dominated them away from home and deserve to be two goals ahead (at least). Nicolas Jackson is going to score a version of this same goal at least eight times this season. What a pass from Pau Torres, the center back’s second assist of the game.

GOAL! Club Brugge 1-2 Aston Villa: Buendia restores the lead immediately (22')

Some game, this! Joao Gomes did a brilliant job weaving his way to the end line and then back inside before picking his head up and finding the late runner into the box. Gomes teed it up for Emiliano Buendia six yards out, and Villa are back in front just like that.

GOAL! Club Brugge 1-1 Aston Villa: Vetelsen fires home the equalizer (19')

It’s 1-1 after Brugge bagged their first real chance of the game. Jan Virgili beat his man on the left wing and hit a low cross to the top of the box, and Hugo Vetelsen smashed it low to the far post.

GOAL! Club Brugge 0-1 Aston Villa: McGinn opens the scoring (11')

It’s been all Aston Villa, and they’re on the board early after John McGinn fired home from the edge of the box in the 11th minute. And so nearly 2-0 just four minutes later, but George Hemmings put his effort just wide of the far post after Nicolas Jackson played him in on goal.
