As Premier League Fan Fest arrives, Denver’s importance to American soccer is clearer than ever

Liverpool-Man City will be 'appointment' TV
Joe Prince-Wright, Nick Mendola and Andy Edwards preview the top storylines for Liverpool-Manchester City in Matchweek 6, where the Anfield crowd is certain to play a major role in the massive matchup.

Denver hosts the latest Premier League Mornings Live Fan Fest this weekend and the Mile High City has always played a key role in the American soccer landscape.

And that impressive status continues to expand.

Denver’s geographical location makes it so important in linking up the rapidly expanding soccer heartlands of the Midwest and Texas with established soccer hubs on the West Coast.

And this weekend we will see supporters’ groups from so many different areas flock to Denver as it is ideally located between so many different regions of the United States of America.

Denver truly feels like a perfect place for Premier League fans, and all soccer fans, to come together.

Huge 2026 crowds underline Denver’s status as a surging soccer hub

On the club and international stage, Denver has a long and proud tradition.

But in recent months things have gone to a whole new level.

In April 2026 the Colorado Rapids, one of the 10 founding members of Major League Soccer, recorded the second-largest attendance in league history as 75,824 fans packed the Broncos’ home stadium Empower Field when Lionel Messi and Inter Miami rolled into town and put on a show.

The NWSL’s newest team, Denver Summit FC, drew a record crowd for the league of over 63,000 at the same stadium just a few weeks earlier as USWNT captain Lindsey Heaps, a Denver area native, is their star.

The Summit have also unveiled impressive plans to build a brand new stadium of their own at Santa Fe Yards, just a few miles from downtown, and it should be completed in the next few years.

Denver is a soccer city and it is clearly in the ascendancy.

There have been multiple memorable national team games for the U.S. men’s and women’s teams over the years too, with one of the most famous games in USMNT history ‘Snow Clasico’ taking place at the home of the Colorado Rapids back in March 2013.

The USMNT beat Costa Rica in a key World Cup qualifier with snow hammering down and epic scenes galore.

Games at multiple Gold Cups have been held in Denver, it has been host to multiple MLS All-Star Games, huge club teams have played there and the Mexican national team have played multiple games there too.

Denver’s status as one of the top cities in the American soccer landscape is clear.

Mile High home comforts for USA

Over the years it has also helped give the U.S. a proper home-field advantage.

The USWNT have never lost in the state of Colorado, winning 10 of their 11 games all-time.

When it comes to the USMNT, Colorado has pretty much always been a success for them too.

They have an 8-1-0 record in Colorado (including four wins from four at the Rapids’ home stadium in Commerce City) and no state where they’ve played more than six games in boasts a better win percentage for the USMNT.

Perhaps both the USWNT and USMNT should pencil in a few more games for Colorado in the coming months and years?

It truly feels like the sky is the limit for soccer in the Mile High City, and this weekend will showcase that.
