Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has been declared the PFA Player of the Year for his exploits during the 2014-15 Premier League season.

Hazard has scored 13 goals and added eight assists in league competition, and was in nomination for the accolade with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, Tottenham Hotspur standout Harry Kane, Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho and Chelsea forward Diego Costa.

Most of these players are well-deserving of the award, but Hazard stood out above the rest, and as you might remember, three PST writers predicted the Belgian to win it. Kane was second in the voting, while De Gea was third.

From The Guardian: “I’m very happy. One day I want to be the best and what I did this season is play very well, Chelsea played very well. I don’t know if I deserve to win but it is good for me. It is good, it is better to be voted by the players - they know everything about football,” Hazard said.

As for the PFA Young Player, it was no surprise to witness the award given to 21-year-old phenom Harry Kane, who has netted 20 league goals and notched four assists as Tottenham continues its push for the top five. Hazard came in second place, and Coutinho was next in line--at third in the voting.

“It is amazing. It is a very proud moment for myself and my family - hopefully the first of many to come,” Kane said of his accomplishment. “I have got to keep working hard, but to be recognized by your fellow players is something special and it is a night I wont forget....It is incredible, an incredible feeling.”
