I’m quite capable of avoiding tribute videos. Usually they get too sappy or aren’t “the goods”, so to speak.
So when links to the near seven-minute Landon Donovan tribute video from US Soccer starting making their way around the web, my thoughts were, “Nah I’m good.”

But today MLSSoccer.com put a link up with the term “tear-jerking”, to which my response was, “Yeah right. For real? I guess I’ll watch this so I can roll my eyes at the use of ‘tear-jerking’”.
Score one for the MLS folks.
I didn’t weep or even feel a tear roll down, but I got chills multiple times. Goosebumps, you might say. Aside from not being able to use World Cup footage -- thanks FIFA -- it’s brilliant. If you haven’t watched it, you need to set aside the seven minutes -- Hey, you’ve listened to “Stairway to Heaven” -- and enjoy.
