By: Erin Fitzsimmons The sun hadnt yet risen at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, FL as the Drive, Chip and Putt team put the last minute touches on the National Tournament. September 23rd was a big day for the kids, parents, sponsors and volunteers as 88 of the top Junior Golfers in the country prepared for the big event.
The summer heat was unrelenting all week in Springfieldl, NJ during the 87th PGA Championship as players and fans trudged through the grounds of Baltusrol carrying their bottled water. Players had to adjust their sweat soaked polos before addressing their shots while fans stayed close to the tree line and the shade it offered.
During the 134th Open Championship almost all eyes were on winner Tiger Woods and his second victory at St. Andrews. The ones that werent watching Tiger take home his 10th major of his PGA Tour career were watching European favorites Ian Poulter and Colin Montgomerie.
As the crowds gathered for the final Sunday round of the 105th U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 all eyes were on Jason Gore, Retif Goosen, Olin Browne and Tiger Woods. Little attention was paid to the 36-year-old Kiwi from New Zealand, Michael Campbell.
The U.S. Open first started in 1895 on the nine-hole course of the Newport Golf and Country Club in Rhode Island. The Championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA) was considered a lesser event since it was played at the same time as the first U.S. Amateur.
