Jets QB Brady Cook will start in Week 16 against the Saints.
Cook finished as the overall QB26 last week against the Jaguars. Although this week’s opponent fields a more fantasy-friendly defense, Cook remains a low-end QB2 at best. Both QB Tyrod Taylor (groin) and QB Justin Fields (knee) are returning from injury. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that the healthier player will be given the No. 2 quarterback role on game day.

Jets HC Aaron Glenn said he will have an answer on his Week 16 QB by Wednesday.
Glenn’s delayed decision to name a starter could be due to injuries, as Justin Fields (knee) and Tyrod Taylor (groin) were both unable to play in Week 15, or he just wants more time to evaluate his QB room full of backups. Brady Cook threw for 176-1-3 in his first career start against the Jaguars in Week 15, and would get the Saints in Week 16 if he were to be named the starter. The situation is a clear: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Brady Cook completed 22-of-33 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Jets’ 48-20, Week 15 loss to the Jaguars, adding six rushes for 39 yards.
Cook wasn’t the problem in the Jets’ four-score road loss. Well, ok, at least not the main problem. Processing quickly and looking more decisive than he did sometimes even at Mizzou, Cook didn’t seem rattled by the speed of the NFL in his first start, though his mistakes mounted after Gang Green went down 21-7 early in the second quarter. Those kinds of obvious passing situations are going to be a problem for any young starter, let alone an undrafted rookie. So if Cook wasn’t the reason the Jets fell behind, he helped make the final score look worse, perhaps most of all when he threw a late inexcusable end zone interception. Trying to find Allen Lazard (a problem for all quarterbacks), Cook just kind of lofted the ball up in the air. They do not teach you to do that in the field of play in the red zone. So it was a “learning experience,” but not one screaming “Cook must be benched for Week 16.” That one will find the Jets on the road in New Orleans. As was the case today, Cook will be off superflex radars, and players like Adonai Mitchell will be “play at your own risk.” That, of course, is if neither Justin Fields (knee) nor Tyrod Taylor (groin) can return.

Jets declared QB Tyrod Taylor, QB Justin Fields, WR Tyler Johnson, LB Kiko Mauigoa, EDGE Braiden McGregor, DT Mazi Smith and TE Mason Taylor inactive for Week 15 against the Jaguars.
UDFA Brady Cook is officially making his first start with Fields and Taylor both sidelined. He will be backed up by fringe journeyman Adrian Martinez. It’s not a good situation, to put it mildly. Cook at least has the benefit of knowing he’s playing this time around, unlike last week where he was thrust in mid-contest. The Jets are nevertheless a “stay-away” team for the first week of the fantasy playoffs.

Jets HC Aaron Glenn said Brady Cook will start in Week 15 against the Jaguars.
Things have been trending in this direction all week. Cook, who replaced Tyrod Taylor (groin) early in Week 14’s loss to the Dolphins, will now make his first career start on the road against an 11th-ranked Jaguars defense. Cook threw for 163-0-2 in his first taste of NFL action last week while completing just 46.7 percent of his passes. Despite the Jaguars being one the the premier pass-funnel defenses in the league this season, Cook can be avoided in all fantasy formats. Fantasy managers hoping for some production from Adonai Mitchell may also want to consider looking elsewhere in Week 15.
  • NYJ Quarterback #4
Jets signed QB Adrian Martinez, formerly of the 49ers.
Martinez already spent time on both the Jets and 49ers’ rosters this year. Jets QB Tyrod Taylor (groin) and QB Justin Fields (knee) were unable to practice on Wednesday. Martinez’s return provides the team with a backup option behind QB Brady Cook for the Jets’ Week 15 game against the Jaguars.
  • NYJ Quarterback #7
Jets QB Justin Fields (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Tyrod Taylor was also a DNP on Wednesday after injuring his groin last week against the Dolphins. Undrafted rookie QB Brady Cook is set to see all the first-team practice reps ahead of the Jets’ Week 15 game against Jacksonville. Cook, who had 163 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions against Miami, would barley be startable even in superflex formats this week.
  • NYJ Quarterback #2
Jets QB Tyrod Taylor (groin) did not practice Wednesday.
With Taylor and Justin Fields (knee) sidelined, Brady Cook will get all the first-team practice reps ahead of the team’s Week 15 game against the Jaguars, according to head coach Aaron Glenn. Cook threw for 163 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 46.7 percent of his passes against the Dolphins in relief of Taylor last Sunday. He would be a significant downgrade for all New York pass catchers.
  • NYJ Quarterback #2
Jets HC Aaron Glenn said the “guy that’s gonna give us the best chance to win” will have the most first-team reps ahead of Week 15’s game against the Jaguars.
Justin Fields (knee) was ruled out last Friday ahead of Week 14’s game against the Dolphins, and Tyrod Taylor exited the game with a groin injury and did not return to the field. Glenn said he still has to talk to the team doctors to see where things stand as far as the health of his players is concerned, but we could be looking at rookie UDFA Brady Cook making his first career start if both Taylor and Fields are unable to go in Week 15. Cook threw for 163 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 46.7 percent of his passes against the Dolphins. What little upside Jets positions players still have will be capped if Cook is under center next week.
  • NYJ Quarterback #4
Brady Cook completed 14-of-30 passes for 163 yards and two interceptions in the Jets’ 34-10, Week 14 loss to the Dolphins.
Cook had a whirlwind of a week, getting signed to the active roster from the practice squad with Justin Fields (knee) out this week. Tyrod Taylor completed 1-of-4 passes for six yards and an interception before exiting due to a groin injury. Cook came in for his NFL debut and predictably struggled throughout the game. He threw two interceptions, both in the red zone and both towards the end of each half. Cook is not a better quarterback option than Taylor or Fields, but may get another start in Week 15 against the Jaguars if both remain out with their respective injuries. Cook is barely a fantasy QB3 option.
