Jets signed Missouri QB Brady Cook.
A five-year commit and three-year starter for Mizzou, Cook (6’2/214) is a questionable passer and exceptional athlete for the quarterback position. Although never a box score game-breaker, Cook peaked in 2023 before steep statistical regression in 2024 despite the presence of Luther Burden and Theo Wease at wideout. Cook has solid arm strength and throwing mechanics but too often struggled to “see the field.” He is the kind of quarterback where even some of his completions can look unnecessarily difficult. Wide receiver adjustments were a must during his time in Columbia. Cook’s size, 4.59 wheels and “coachability” make him a decent enough prospect, but already 23 years old with modest box scores and tape, he has his work cut out for him as he looks to establish himself on the league’s backup circuit.

Missouri sophomore QB Brady Cook has been named the team’s starting quarterback.
A former three-star prospect who was considered the 29th quarterback from the 2020 prep cycle, Cook (6'2"/203) was the prohibited favorite for the Mizzou QB following spring practices. Last season he saw game action in three contests, starting one, and completed a very strong 79% of his passes. It should be noted that his 58 total pass attempts is a small sample size and that Cook averaged a very low 5.9 yards per attempt. However he is clearly the best signal caller on the Tigers’ roster and should be dialed in for Mizzou’s season opening against Louisiana Tech on Thursday, September 1.

Missouri redshirt sophomore QB Brady Cook has been name as the team’s starter for Week 1 against Louisiana Tech.
Cook (6'2/207) saw action in five games for Missouri last season and made his lone start in the team’s bowl game against Army. In limited action, he totaled 46 completions for 345 yards and two touchdowns while completing an impressive 79.3% of his passes. He also rushed for 11-122-1, which included a 72-yard performance in the bowl game loss to Army, and now appears to have secured the team’s starting role. A former three-star recruit from the 2020 class, Cook was the 29th-ranked pro QB per 247Sports’ composite rankings and opted to stay in Missouri for his hometown Tigers. Missouri kicks off its season on September 1st against Louisiana Tech.

Missouri redshirt freshman QB Brady Cook completed 27-of-34 passes for 238 yards and one touchdown in Wednesday’s 24-22 loss to Army.
Cook (6'2/207) looked like Missouri’s future starter in this one, appearing in command of the offense and orchestrating two touchdown drives, including one late in the game that looked like it was going to be enough to give Missouri the upset win. Cook got Missouri on the board on the opening drive of the game, putting in work with his legs as he took a 30-yard run down the right sideline to put Missouri up 7-0 to open the game. He would then get Missouri into position for three more first half field goals, as the Tigers led Army 16-7 at halftime. Missouri would then be shutout in the third quarter, but late in the fourth quarter, Cook found wide receiver Keke Chism for a six-yard touchdown pass with 1:11 left in the game, to give the Tigers a 22-21 lead after a failed two-point conversion. Unfortunately for Cook and Mizzou, his late heroics wouldn’t be enough, as Army would respond to Cook’s touchdown pass with a late-drive of their own that ended in a game winning field goal.

Missouri redshirt freshman QB Brady Cook completed 14-of-19 passes for 78 yards in a 43-6 loss to Georgia on Saturday.
You have to feel for Cook (6'2/207), as the inexperienced redshirt freshman had the displeasure of facing Georgia’s number one rated defense in his first career start with Connor Bazelak ruled out. All things considered, he did pretty well in completing 74 percent of his throws, though he was reserved to almost exclusively passes within the first 10 yards of the line. Cook did manage to gain 32 yards on 10 carries, before giving way to Tyler Macon who completed 6-of-13 passes for 74 yards. The Tigers have a winnable game at home next Saturday against South Carolina.
