Today is the 25-year anniversary of Hank Gathers’ death

25 years ago today, Loyola Marymount forward Hank Gathers died after collapsing on the court during a West Coast Conference tournament game.

There has been plenty of content published over the course of the past week in remembrance, none of which is better than this story from longtime Philly Daily News writer Dick Jerardi.

The Philly Inquirer re-published their column that was written the morning after Gathers collapsed, and that is worth the read as well, as is Myron Medcalf’s story on how Gathers’ death has affected those closest to him.
