    Panthers released QB Bryce Perkins.
Perkins was signed following Andy Dalton’s elbow injury, so we take Perkins’ release as a positive regarding Dalton’s recovery. The Panthers also waived CB Mello Dotson, CB JaTravis Broughton, S Isaac Gifford, OG Luke Kandra, OG Steven Loyosa, WR TJ Luther, RB Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams, OLB J.J. Weaver and ILB Jacoby Windmon.
  • FA Cornerback #43
Utah sophomore cornerback JaTravis Broughton has been ruled out for the remainder of the season per head coach Kyle Whittingham
The loss of Broughton (5'11/190) is a tough one for Utah. Broughton, a starting cornerback for the Utes, had played in 118 total snaps on the season while registering six tackles and two pass breakups per Pro Football Focus. He was targeted eight times on the season and allowed just three receptions for 27 yards. Broughton will look to return healthy for the 2022 season as he is not draft eligible until 2023.

  • FA Cornerback #43
Utah DB coach Sharrief Shah told Chris Kamrani of The Athletic that sophomore CB JaTravis Broughton is becoming more comfortable in his new role.
Broughton (6'0/190), who was primarily a special teams contributor last season, is being asked to step up in a big way as Utah lost a lot of talent in the secondary. While the sophomore is getting more comfortable with his role, there are still strides to be made not only physically but as a leader as well. “He needs to be more vocal and to be smarter, schematically and situationally,” Shah told Kamrani. “To understand what’s happening to you and to be able to predict it and anticipate it better.” Broughton finished his freshman season with eight total tackles, one interception and one pass defensed.
