Jets acquired DT T’Vondre Sweat from the Titans in exchange for EDGE Jermaine Johnson.
As Schefter notes, the deal won’t become official until the new league year, which starts in a few weeks. Johnson was the subject of trade rumors at the deadline last year, but nothing materialized. He now gets a new home in Tennessee. Sweat, a former second-round pick, had a quiet rookie season with one sack and four TFLs. Despite appearing in five fewer games, Sweat upped his sack total to two in 2025. Pro Football Focus also charted him as a markedly improved player. He ranked fourth in run defense grade and top-20 in pass-rush grade among defensive linemen. Sweat has two more years on his rookie contract.
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans activated NT T’Vondre Sweat (ankle) from injured reserve.
Sweat makes his return to a roster that has allowed the fourth most fantasy points per game to opposing backfields this season. Sweat has continually graded as a top performer against the run throughout this career, making his return a significant boost to a struggling unit.
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans placed NT T’Vondre Sweat (ankle) on injured reserve.
The Titans will now be without their big man against the run for the next four games, at minimum. Expect Shy Tuttle to fill in in his absence.
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans DT T’Vondre Sweat (ankle) will not play in Week 3’s game against the Colts.
Rejoice, Jonathan Taylor fantasy managers, as Sweat is one of the best young nose tackles in the game. Sweat was a Friday downgrade to not participating, opening up the possibility that he’s had a setback. At the very least, he should be considered extremely questionable for Week 4.
  • TEN OFFENSIVE TACKLE (SUB) #55
Titans OT JC Latham (hip) will not play in Week 2 against the Rams.
Neither will T’Vondre Sweat, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Oli Udoh looks to be next in line for snaps at right tackle for Tennessee. It’s a big downgrade for Cam Ward’s protection as the rookie quarterback continues to fight against his supporting cast to produce aesthetically pleasing statistics.
  • TEN Running Back #31
Titans RB Kalel Mullings (ankle) was not seen practicing on Thursday.
That makes two absences for Mullings this week. If the sixth-round rookie cannot suit up for Week 2, that would leave the Titans with just Tony Pollard and Julius Chestnut as the available running backs on the active roster. Pollard totaled 19 touches against the Broncos last week, with Tyjae Spears (ankle) on injured reserve. He is likely to do so again against a slightly softer Rams defense. Titans OT JC Latham (hip) and DT T’Vondre Sweat (ankle) were also not seen practicing.
  • TEN OFFENSIVE TACKLE (SUB) #55
Titans OT JC Latham (hip) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Latham aggravated a preseason hip injury in Week 1 against the Broncos. The 22-year-old tackle played 45 snaps before exiting, with Oli Udoh replacing him at right tackle. Latham’s status for Week 2 and the foreseeable future remains in doubt. Also not practicing for the Titans Wednesday were S Quandre Diggs (hand) and DT T’Vondre Sweat (ankle).
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans DT T’Vondre Sweat (eye) left Week 16 against the Colts and returned.
Sweat was poked in the eye in the first half of the Titans’ Week 16 matchup against the Colts. He left the game and went to the locker room, but returned to the sideline. Sweat returned late in the second quarter.
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder) is questionable for Week 14 against the Jaguars.
Sweat didn’t practice at all this week, but the questionable tag gives him a shot at getting in some reps over the weekend before suiting up on Sunday. Linebacker Kenneth Murray is also questionable after missing all three sessions. Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky noted that Murray told reporters the plan is for him to play. Kuharsky added that he expects Sweat to be a go as well. The two have combined for 4.5 sacks and 19 TFLs this year.
  • TEN Nose Tackle #93
Titans NT T’Vondre Sweat (hip) is questionable for Week 8 against the Lions.
Sweat was added to Thursday’s injury report as a limited participant and was unable to practice at all on Friday. While the rookie, Sweat, does not always show up in the box score, his potential loss is significant. At 6-foot-4, 366 pounds, Sweat frequently takes on double teams and despite the extra offensive attention, he has tallied three tackles for loss or no gain thus far.
