Free agent CB Elbert Mack will visit the Saints this week.
Mack has been exposed as a liability in coverage with the Bucs over the past four years. He would be no more than a dime back in New Orleans.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
    Saints released CB Elbert Mack.
They liked Jerome Murphy better. Mack made the Saints out of training camp as a special teamer and No. 5 corner, but became expendable when New Orleans claimed Murphy on waivers. Mack now becomes an unrestricted free agent.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
Saints agreed to terms with CB Elbert Mack, formerly of the Bucs, on a one-year contract.
Mack visited the Saints in April. An undrafted free agent in 2008, Mack has appeared in at least 12 games each of the past four seasons, but made only four starts. Mack is a big hitter who is proficient against the run, but has always been a liability in coverage. He’ll be lucky to secure dime duties in New Orleans.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
    Saints re-signed CB Elbert Mack.
Mack was dumped in favor of Jerome Murphy early this month. Now that Murphy has been waived, Mack gets another shot at the final cornerback spot.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
Saints CB Elbert Mack left Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a head/neck injury.
Mack was injured on an interception-ruled-incompletion return in the fourth quarter. He was tackled and took an inadvertent knee to the back of the head from his own teammate. Mack is the third corner for New Orleans. He was replaced in the lineup by Johnny Patrick.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
    Saints released CB Elbert Mack.
Mack continues to do the roster dance with the Saints. He was released at final cuts, re-signed after Week 2 and is now gone again.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
Saints re-signed CB Elbert Mack and released LB Barrett Ruud.
It’s been quite a fall for Ruud over the past couple of years, going from alleged star middle linebacker in Tampa to basically a street free agent-caliber player. Mack returns after LCB Jabari Greer re-aggravated his groin injury.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
Free agent CB Elbert Mack worked out for the Texans on Wednesday.
Mack, 27 next month, appeared in seven games for the Saints last season, recording 14 tackles and an interception. He’d be roster depth.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
Texans signed CB Elbert Mack and DT Daniel Muir.
Special teamer Mack worked out for the Texans last month. He appeared in seven games with the Saints in 2012. Muir, 29, played in three games with the Jets last season. Both players are nothing more than veteran depth.
  • FA Defensive Back #43
    Texans re-signed CB Elbert Mack.
Mack, 28 in July, appeared in eight games for the Texans last season as a reserve corner and special teamer. He’ll try and fill the same role in 2014.
