Erick Fedde was torched for seven runs over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Pirates.
Things unraveled quickly on Fedde in the fifth inning as the Pirates tagged him for six runs on seven hits in the disastrous frame. He failed to record a strikeout over five innings and walked three batters. It was the third time this season that he’s allowed at least seven earned runs with a pair of those outings coming in the last week. He’ll square off against the Cubs’ high-powered lineup on Sunday at Wrigley Field.

Erick Fedde allowed eight hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts across just 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.
Fedde never settled into this one. Ian Happ took him deep on the first pitch of the game, then the Cubs rallied for three more in the second, Kyle Tucker hit a long home run to start the third, and he was pulled in the fourth with two runs already home and the bases loaded. Overall, he allowed 12 hard-hit balls while forcing just four swings-and-misses. It’s difficult to have a start much worse than this one. He’s scheduled to face the Pirates and these same Cubs in a two-start week coming up.

Erick Fedde was charged with two runs — one earned — over five innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the White Sox.
Fedde drew the starting assignment for the opening contest of Thursday’s doubleheader and departed on the hook for a potential loss against his former club after giving up a go-ahead single to Miguel Vargas in the fifth inning. Fortunately, the Cardinals offense wound up rallying in the eighth to spare him. He finished with four strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. The 32-year-old righty has struggled to miss bats this season, recording just 55 punchouts over 84 innings of work. However, he’s been a decent ratio stabilizer with a respectable 3.54 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 15 starts. He’ll square off against the Cubs on Tuesday in his next outing.

Sonny Gray will have his next start pushed back to Friday’s series opener against the Reds.
Erick Fedde and Michael McGreevy will take the ball for Thursday’s doubleheader against the White Sox with Gray, who was originally scheduled to start on Wednesday night, being bumped back to take the ball against Cincinnati on a couple days of extra rest.

Erick Fedde allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings to take a loss to the Brewers on Friday.
Fedde allowed just four hits and a walk, and he struck out five. This is not a terrible line, but the 32-year-old was better than it indicates for most of the start. He gave up just one run over the first five frames before a pair were charged to him in the sixth. Unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn’t solve Freddy Peralta, so it’s another loss for Fedde; dropping him to 3-6 on the season. He gets a very friendly matchup on paper next week against his former team in the White Sox.

Despite walking four, Erick Fedde pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings against the Dodgers in a no-decision Saturday.
The game was still scoreless when Fedde exited with two on in the sixth. Steven Matz replaced him then and stranded both runners. Fedde gave up four hits and produced just four missed swings in the 99-pitch outing today, but the Dodgers never broke through against him. They ended up going 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position over the course of the 2-1 loss. Fedde will make his next start Thursday or Friday against the Brewers.

Erick Fedde allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Rangers on Sunday.
Fedde gave up four hits, walked three and struck out five. The 32-year-old right-hander completed six innings for the first time since his complete game shutout against the Nationals in early May. Fedde has a 44/29 K/BB ratio in 68 1/3 innings this year. His 4.85 xFIP is more than a full run higher than his 3.82 ERA. Fedde is best left on fantasy benches for his start next weekend against the Dodgers at home.

Erick Fedde surrendered five runs — three earned — in five innings Monday in a loss to the Orioles.
Fedde threw 14 2/3 scoreless innings over starts against the Nationals and Phillies earlier this month, but he’s given up nine runs and three homers over 10 innings his last two times out. The loss leaves him 3-4 with a 3.90 ERA. He’ll likely face the Rangers in Texas next weekend.

Erick Fedde wasn’t at his best in a no-decision against the Tigers on Tuesday, giving up four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.
The 32-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He served up a leadoff home run to Kerry Carpenter and an RBI single to Riley Greene in the opening inning. Greene then victimized him for a two-out, two-run blast in the third inning that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. He got six swings and misses on 63 pitches on the evening — half of those on his cutter — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.77 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 34/25 K/BB ratio (57 1/3 innings) into Monday’s battle against the Orioles in Baltimore.

Erick Fedde threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings against the Phillies in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.
Fedde, coming off a shutout of the Nationals, kept his scoreless streak intact, but he wasn’t allowed to go very deep into this one. The surprising thing was that the Cardinals brought in Steven Matz to replace him in a scoreless tie, rather than going to their late-game relievers. It worked out initially, as Matz stranded both runners he inherited in the sixth. Matz, though, gave up two runs in the seventh in the eventual 2-1 loss. Fedde ended this one with three strikeouts and four walks. He has his ERA down to 3.44, but we’d still suggest staying away in mixed leagues. He’ll face the Tigers next.
