Erick Fedde allowed four runs and struck out two batters over 4 2/3 innings in a loss against the Angels on Tuesday.
Fedde gave up a pair of solo homers in the first inning to Mike Trout and Jorge Soler. Things got away from him with two outs in the fifth as he surrendered two more runs on a home run, a walk, and a double. Fedde’s day would be done before he could complete the fifth. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 3.79 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 24/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings into a start against the Royals in Chicago next Tuesday.

Erick Fedde allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Wednesday
Fedde struck out six and didn’t walk a batter while throwing 63 percent of his pitches for strikes. Despite striking out six, Fedde had just eight whiffs and an eight percent swinging strike rate on the day, almost all of which came on his sweeper. Fedde got plenty of called strikes with his sinker, which put him in advantageous counts, but this was not as dominant a performance as the statline might suggest. Fedde will get a rematch with these Angels in Los Angeles next week.

Erick Fedde allowed three hits and one run with four walks and one strikeout across 5 2/3 innings working behind an opener in a no-decision against the Nationals on Friday.
In a revenge game against his former team, Fedde pitched well over his first few innings before completely losing the strike zone in the fifth inning. He walked three batters in that frame, the last of which forced in a run. Yet, most of the rest of his outing was relatively clean. He just didn’t force many swings-and-misses and doesn’t profile as a particularly intriguing option ahead of his next appearance against the Angels.

Erick Fedde allowed three runs with three strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Saturday.
After a clean first inning, Fedde gave up a solo homer to Jacob Wilson in the second. The A’s brought a run in to score in the third on a sacrifice fly. Fedde tossed a scoreless fourth, then walked the leadoff man in the fifth. He recorded the first two outs in the frame before departing at 75 pitches. The inherited runner would eventually come in to score. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 3.92 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 15/7 K/BB ratio into a start against the Nationals in Chicago on Friday.

Erick Fedde allowed one run with four strikeouts over five innings in a loss against the Royals on Saturday.
Fedde served up a solo homer to Maikel Garcia on the first pitch of the game. He then settled in nicely, going four more scoreless innings with just two more hits and one walk allowed. He struck out four. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 3.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 12/3 K/BB ratio across 16 innings into a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday.

Erick Fedde gave up two runs in six innings after relieving opener Grant Taylor against the Orioles on Monday.
Taylor again pitched a scoreless first, but the White Sox offense couldn’t get anything going tonight and Fedde dropped to 0-2 with a 4.09 ERA. He’ll face the Royals on Saturday, perhaps again behind an opener.

Erick Fedde was charged with four runs — three earned — over five innings on Tuesday in a loss to the Marlins.
Fedde posted four strikeouts and walked one batter in his season debut. He carried a shutout into the fourth inning before the metaphorical wheels came off the wagon his second time through Miami’s lineup as he coughed up four runs on five hits in the frame. He’ll take the ball on Monday against the Orioles his next time out.

White Sox optioned RHP Jonathan Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte.
Cannon made 17 starts and pitched 103 2/3 innings for the White Sox last season and came into spring training battling for a spot in the rotation. He didn’t pitch poorly, posting a 4.09 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio in 11 innings, but it wasn’t good enough to beat out Anthony Kay and Erick Fedde, who both joined the team this winter.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #15
Sean Newcomb will pitch out of the bullpen to open the regular season.
White Sox manager Will Venable confirmed to reporters that Newcomb will operate in relief to open the season after battling for a spot in Chicago’s rotation during camp. The decision makes it a near-lock that both Anthony Kay and Erick Fedde will make the Opening Day rotation. There’s zero fantasy intrigue here but it’s worth noting that the White Sox are going to give a few veterans some run before they consider promoting a top prospect like Hagen Smith or Noah Schultz.

Erick Fedde delivered another strong Cactus League outing on Thursday, scattering two hits over three innings of shutout baseball against the Guardians.
Fedde struck out three batters in the ballgame and didn’t issue a free pass. He piggybacked Sean Burke in this one, entering in the fourth inning. He allowed just a one-out double to Angel Martinez in the fifth and a bloop single to Austin Hedges in the sixth, but was never in any real danger. Fedde got four swings and misses on his 35 pitches, posting a miserable CSW of just 14 percent. It’s possible that a return to the White Sox returns Fedde to fantasy relevance, and he can be had for pennies on the dollar at the end of fantasy drafts if you’re interested in taking that gamble.
