  • JAX Quarterback #16
Jaguars GM Trent Baalke said the team is still working toward a contract extension with Trevor Lawrence.
Baalke said the team is trying “not to force anything” but acknowledged that he spoke recently with Lawrence’s agent. Lawrence is heading into the fourth year of his rookie deal and will presumably have his fifth year exercised later this offseason. Lawrence has thrown for 11,770-58-39 through his first three seasons in the league, going 20-30 in his first 50 starts and 17-16 in a post-Urban Meyer world. He led the Jaguars to the playoffs in 2022 and led them to an inspiring comeback win over the Chargers in his first playoff game. It seems apparent at this point that both sides hope to get a deal done but with essentially two years left on his rookie contract, it’s no surprise that neither is rushing to get a deal done.
  • DAL Defensive Back #7
Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (ACL) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Diggs tore his ACL in practice on September 21, costing him the remainder of the 2023 season. The Cowboys open camp on July 26, which would be 10 months removed from the injury and right in line with the typical rehabilitation window for ACL injuries amongst NFL players. Diggs recorded 11 interceptions in 2021 and remains a vital piece of the aggressive Cowboys secondary.
  • Buccaneers declined the fifth-year option on EDGE Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.
Tryon-Shoyinka’s snap rate fell off over the second half of the 2023 season after starting the year playing nearly two-thirds of the defensive snaps. Former mainstay on the edge for the Buccaneers, Shaquil Barrett, is no longer with the team, meaning Tryon-Shoyinka could see his playing time jump back up in the coming season - a season that could amount to an audition for his next contract.
  • DAL Quarterback #15
Cowboys declined the fifth-year option on QB Trey Lance’s contract.
This only confirms previous reports that the team intended on declining the former third-overall draft pick’s fifth-year option. Cooper Rush served as the team’s backup quarterback a season ago and returns to the roster in 2024, making it likely Lance has another year of emergency quarterback duties while technically inactive ahead.
  • FA Wide Receiver #83
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Tyler Boyd has meetings with the Chargers and Titans this week.
Boyd spent the first eight years of his career in Cincinnati. The Bengals showed no interest in re-signing him after a quiet 2023 season with 667 yards and two scores. The Chargers, on the other hand, could use a veteran slot receiver to round out their young receiver room. Quentin Johnston did next to nothing as a rookie and can’t be counted on to produce in 2024. That leaves first-year receiver Ladd McConkey and veteran wideout Joshua Palmer as Justin Herbert’s top pass-catchers. The Titans have a better receiving duo up top with Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins but may be looking for an upgrade over Treylon Burks in the slot.
  • NYG Cornerback #30
Giants signed CB David Long Jr., formerly of the Packers.
A former third-round pick, Long spent four years in LA before leaving in free agency last offseason. He signed with the Raiders as a free agent but was released mid-season. Long then had brief stays with the Panthers and Packers. Long will need to carve out a role on special teams in New York to lock up a roster spot.
  • FA Punter #16
    Bears waive P Trenton Gill.
Drafted in 2022, Gill ranked last among all punters in net yards per punt last year. He was among the worst punters in touchback rate and punts inside the 20. The Bears drafted Iowa punter Tory Taylor in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Still early in his career, Gill could earn a camp invite from another team this summer.
  • IND Wide Receiver #16
Colts WR Ashton Dulin said he does not have a timetable for his return from the torn ACL he suffered last August.
Dulin did say he was feeling good and is at the point in his rehab process where he is ready to return to the field. The former UDFA went for 207 receiving yards and one score in 2022. He also contributed 187 special teams reps. The two-way usage earned him a two-year contract in the offseason. Dulin tore his ACL in training camp last year and missed the 2023 season. As long as it was a clean tear, he should be ready for the start of the 2024 season. Dulin’s days as a dynasty stash are long gone, but he should contribute as a receiver wideout and a special teamer in the upcoming season.
  • NO Cornerback #25
Saints signed CB Will Harris, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year contract.
A former third round draft pick, Harris will leave Detroit after five seasons. Harris had two interceptions in 80 games for the Lions along with 174 tackles as a rotational player. In New Orleans, he’ll join a Saints secondary graded by Pro Football Focus as the NFL’s fifth best.
  • ARI Linebacker #25
Cardinals declined the fifth-year option on LB Zaven Collins.
The former first-round linebacker heads into the final season of his rookie contract potentially playing for his next deal. Collins was once a fixture in the Cardinals’ defense but saw his snap rate almost cut in half in 2023, the first season with head coach Jonathan Gannon and his unique 3-4, shallow two-high scheme. Collins’ potential departure after the 2024 season could open up additional snaps for 2023 second-round linebacker BJ Ojulari.
  • LAR Running Back #35
Rams signed RB Boston Scott to a one-year contract.
The fabled Giant killer played the first six years of his NFL career in Philadelphia but was largely an afterthought the previous two seasons with D’Andre Swift in town. Scott, a diminutive in stature scat back, has made the largest impact on special teams throughout his career, which is likely why he was brought into the Rams organization on a one-year deal. In other words, he is likely best left on the waiver wire for the time being.
