Michael ranked Ryan Spooner 38th. No one else ranked him in their top-40.
Ryan Spooner came on like gangbusters when dealt from Boston to the Rangers. He had 16 points in 20 games with New York which is a 65-point pace over the regular season. Even in Boston he averaged 53 points per 82 games. That is good enough to be ranked.
Ryan ranked Max Pacioretty 37th. The composite ranking was 24.25.
Max Pacioretty is coming off one of the worst campaigns of his career. He had 17 goals and 37 points in 68 games, which translates to his lowest goals/points per game numbers since 2009-10. I suspect most people are looking for him to bounce back, but I’m keeping my expectations low. It doesn’t help that his shots per game dipped in 2016-17 and he had to compensate with a 13.1 shooting percentage, which is fairly high by his standards. His shots per game didn’t bounce back in 2017-18 and unless he can reverse that going forward, I have a hard time believing he has more 30-goal campaigns in him. Montreal is also a pretty bad team right now, giving him little to work with. In fact, the ideal would be that he gets traded in his contract year, but teams are probably waiting to see if he’ll bounce back before engaging in serious talks with Montreal.
