DFS Soccer Week 21

Welcome back to our weekly Premier League DFS content here on Rotoworld. We’ve had a bit of a break with the FA Cup taking place this weekend but we’re ready for a week of Premier League action here with games on Tuesday/Wednesday and then over the weekend. The slate on Tuesday is only three games, which is too small for me to play on, but Wednesday features a seven game slate that is primed to be a ton of fun.

There are a lot of big matches on Wednesday, take a look:

Manchester City – Everton

Stoke City – Norwich City

Southampton – Watford

Chelsea – West Brom

Swansea City – Sunderland

Liverpool – Arsenal

Tottenham – Leicester City

The games that catch our attention are Liverpool – Arsenal, which could be a high scoring affair. Tottenham and Leicester just met in the FA Cup on Sunday, and will face off again on Wednesday. That match could also be very high paced, as the match on Sunday finished 2-2. Manchester City – Everton will certainly draw some interest, and there could be a lot of value there. Let’s look at the goalkeeper situation.

Goalkeepers

DraftKings

The sportsbooks really like Thibaut Courtois this week, although his situation is a bit risky. Chelsea have improved since sacking Jose Mourinho, but trusting Courtois in cash will be a risky maneuver. At the same time, there aren’t really any great choices for cash games due to the slate’s good teams being in seemingly high scoring matches. Joe Hart could be an option but Everton have been attacking really well lately and he also carries big risk, especially with Vincent Kompany missing. Jack Butland gets a good matchup and should be considered at his price, despite allowing five goals in his last two matches (both on the road).

In GPPs, Petr Cech is a good option due to a combination of price, upside, and matchup. Liverpool like to take shots from distance, which can often lead to a number of saves for their opponent’s goalkeeper.

MondoGoal

The pricing on MondoGoal presents a number of targets this week that are quite different than DraftKings. Thibaut Courtois is the best choice by far, especially with Butland being more expensive than him. On the cheaper side, Stekelenburg and Fabianski are both great values for the price. Fabianski faces a poor Sunderland side and has a great chance at a clean sheet, despite his team’s struggles of late.

Stekelenburg is much riskier but also possesses quite a high upside, he’s more of a secondary target.

There are no forward charts this week due to the sportsbooks not having odds for goalscorers as of right now, but make sure you check SkyBet for odds on goalscorers later in the week as you evaluate options. One thing worth noting is Diego Costa limped off in the FA Cup on Sunday and could miss Wednesday’s match, which would open up a lot of value at Chelsea.

For some more general advice, I want to point out something here this week since I’m not giving you the forward charts. I want to encourage you to look at odds not just for goalscorers, but for teams. A team likely to score a lot of goals in a given week provides value from strikers and midfielders. Midfielders in high-scoring games often benefit through assists and goals, and they see increased value as well when the matchup is right. There are a number of ways to see which teams are expected to score a lot of goals, including specific odds for a team’s chances of scoring X+ goals. Use those to your advantage.

Good luck everyone!
