Gage Jump earned the win in Sunday’s 5-0 victory over the Astros in Houston, tossing 6 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing three hits.
Jump struck out three and issued three walks in the outing, dropping his ERA to 2.45 through three starts in the big leagues. He’s now pitched into the seventh in back-to-back appearances, both of which came on the road. The 23-year-old rookie southpaw next lines up to face the Rockies at home. It kicks off a 13-game homestand in hitter-friendly Sacramento.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Gage Jump held the Cubs to one run in seven innings for his first major league victory Tuesday.
Jump, who gave up four runs in five innings against the Mariners in his first MLB start, allowed just three hits with his average fastball up to 96.9 mph tonight. It was 95.9 mph in his first start and 95.8 mph in Triple-A this season. In spite of that, he still only generated five whiffs on 45 swings. Jump still seems like a tough play in mixed leagues at the moment. He’ll face the Astros on the road on Sunday.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Gage Jump allowed four runs while striking out five batters over five innings in a loss against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Jump struck out two in a scoreless first inning, then ran into trouble in the second. The Mariners brought three runs across in the frame on four hits and a walk. He stranded two more runners in the third, then allowed another run in on four hits in the fourth. Gage gave the A’s one more scoreless frame, ending his day after five. On the bright side, he only walked one and generated 13 whiffs on 88 pitches to strike out five in his MLB debut. Sacramento certainly isn’t the easiest venue to make your first start. He’ll look for better fortune when he takes on the Cubs in Chicago next Tuesday.

Athletics selected the contract of LHP Gage Jump from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Jump will make his major-league debut on Tuesday against the division-rival Mariners with veteran Luis Severino being pushed back an extra day. The 23-year-old southpaw, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of LSU, has compiled a solid 4.50 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 56/20 K/BB ratio across 38 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season. He attacks hitters with an unorthodox delivery and a repertoire that features a mid-90s fastball, a strong curveball and multiple slider variations. Jump projects as more of a mid-rotation starter long term, but he misses enough bats to warrant immediate interest in deeper mixed leagues.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
With Aaron Civale likely IL bound, the A’s will call up top prospect Gage Jump, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Jump, the 73rd overall pick in the 2024 draft, will presumably go right into the rotation. He had a 4.50 ERA in nine starts in Triple-A, but he had struck out 56 while also walking 20 in 38 innings. It seems unlikely that he’ll be a mixed-league solution right away in a tough situation for pitchers in Sacramento, but he has a chance to be a No. 2 or 3 starter for the A’s in the long run.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Athletics LHP prospect Gage Jump was removed from his start with Triple-A Las Vegas in the fifth inning with a possible leg injury.
Jump had thrown four scoreless innings while striking out six, but he landed awkwardly on his plant leg and seemed to tweak something. He was fighting to stay in the game, but his four-seam fastball velocity went from 95 mph down to 91 after the potential injury, so the team removed him from the game. It may just be precautionary, but we’ll have to wait for word.
  • ATH Shortstop #94
Athletics reassigned SS Leo De Vries, LHPs Gage Jump and Matt Krook, C Chad Wallach, 3B Tommy White, 2B Michael Stefanic, OFs Cade Marlowe and Henry Bolte, RHPs Nick Hernandez, Brooks Kriske and Wander Suero to minor league camp.
De Vries put together an extremely impressive showing in Cactus League play, hitting .409 (18-for-44) with three homers and 11 RBI in 17 contests. The switch-hitting 19-year-old prodigy was the centerpiece of the Mason Miller blockbuster at the trade deadline last July and will open the minor league season at Double-A Midland. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if he reached the big leagues as a teenager in the second half. He’s one of the top 10 prospects in the entire fantasy landscape entering 2026.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Gage Jump limited the Angels to one run Saturday over 3 2/3 innings.
Jump did walk two, but he was able to limit the damage to the one run while allowing just a single hit. The 22-year-old is one of the better pitching prospects in the A’s system, and while he’s almost certainly ticketed for a trip to the minors to begin 2026, he very well could finish a season as a part of the pitching staff. He’s a name to monitor.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
A’s prospect Gage Jump pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three Sunday against the Reds.
All three strikeouts came on his fastball, which topped out at 98.1 mph today. The 73rd overall pick in the 2024 draft, Jump has little chance of breaking camp with the A’s, but a summer arrival is possible. He had a 3.64 ERA in 19 starts and one relief appearance after moving up to Double-A last year.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher
Gage Jump allowed one run over one inning on Monday in his Cactus League debut against the Giants.
Jump cemented his status as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball by compiling a stellar 3.28 ERA and 131/34 K/BB ratio across 112 2/3 innings between Double-A Midland and High-A Lansing last year in his professional debut. The 22-year-old southpaw has a chance to reach the big leagues later this year and should miss enough bats to provide an instant fantasy impact.
