ESPN’s Chad Ford says former Georgia Tech G/F Glen Rice Jr. is “firmly” in the first round.
The son of three-time All-Star Glen Rice, the younger version was dismissed from Georgia Tech after his junior season for multiple team rule violations. He then wisely opted to play in the D-Leage, where he averaged 25 points per game in the playoffs as the Rio Grande Vipers won the championship. With a rehabbed image, a sweet jumper and good size (6'6/215), Rice is climbing up draft boards.

Glen Rice Jr. could struggle for minutes as a rookie with the Wizards.
Not a huge shock for a second-round pick, but Rice Jr. faces a logjam with Bradley Beal, Martell Webster and Eric Maynor all projected to log time at shooting guard. A lot will need to happen for him to be a factor this season.

Glen Rice Jr. signed his rookie-scale contract with the Wizards on Monday.
Rice rebuilt his draft stock with a strong season in the D-League, averaging 14.5 points, 1.8 threes, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.0 blocks in just 26 minutes per game.

Eric Maynor could see some time at shooting guard, according to the Washington Post.
Bradley Beal and Martell Webster are going to see the overwhelming majority of the time at the two. The talk of Maynor playing some shooting guard says a couple things: John Wall is going to see a ton of minutes and rookie Glen Rice Jr. will have a tough time seeing playing time in his first year. Maynor won’t be worth drafting in most leagues.

Bradley Beal aggravated his leg injury and the Wizards are concerned he will miss “extended time,” according to Bill Simmons of ESPN.com.
There is no word on the extent of the injury and if he re-fractured his fibula from last year. He’s played 41.8 minutes per game over his last five and has been launching shots at a 21.2 attempts-per-game clip over that span. All owners can do is grab Martell Webster in all leagues and hope Beal is just day-to-day. Garrett Temple and Glen Rice Jr. will also be in the mix.

Glen Rice Jr. has been reassigned to the Iowa Energy of the D-League.
Rice averaged 24.3 points and 10.3 rebounds with the Energy back in January, so this move should help the 23-year-old get some valuable minutes with the Wizards’ D-League affiliate. After his three games with the Energy earlier this month, Rice didn’t see any minutes with the Wizards so it goes without saying that fantasy owners shouldn’t have him on their radar for the 2013-14 season.

Glen Rice Jr. and Trevor Booker will start against the Nuggets on Monday.
This just goes to show how bad Chris Singleton was over the weekend, and the team still isn’t comfortable in giving rookie Otto Porter minutes yet. Rice is worth a look in very deep leagues, but the expectations should be very low. However, Trevor Booker could be a double-double threat tonight.

Glen Rice Jr. made the first start of his career on Monday with a line of seven points, three boards, one assist, three steals and one 3-pointer on 3-of-9 shooting in 29 minutes.
He didn’t play too well tonight and settled for a lot of jumpers when he probably should have been attacking. Rice was outstanding in the D-League playoffs last year with averages of 25.0 points, 9.5 boards, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in six games, so he’s capable of putting up lines at the lower levels. Of course, the NBA is a little different and Rice still has his work cut out for him to be a mainstay in the rotation.

Glen Rice Jr. (wrist surgery) no longer has a splint on his right shooting wrist.
Rice had surgery two weeks ago but he was seen taking shots during Tuesday’s practice, which is a positive sign. The Wizards have no timetable for his return.

Glen Rice Jr. (wrist surgery) has been cleared to shoot and is getting closer to participating in full-contact practices.
Rice Jr. was given a 3-6 week timetable after surgery in Dec. 18, and it sounds as though he’s recovering on schedule. The Wizards’ second-round draft pick is shooting under 30 percent from the field in 11 NBA appearances.
