Westwood moving to U.S. for better weather

Lee Westwood will move to the United States at the end of this year.

‘There are a number of reasons, but the main one is I haven’t got that much time left at the top and I want to give myself the best chance of staying there as long as I can,’ he said, according to the Press Association. ‘I am moving to America at the end of this year because with our weather (in England), it is hard to practice when you want to practice.’

The world No. 3 did not indicate where he intends to live in the U.S. He again took up PGA Tour membership this season after showing reluctance to play an extended American schedule. He has a pair of PGA Tour wins.

He finished T-10 in the U.S. Open last week at The Olympic Club, extending an 0-for-57 streak in major championships.

Westwood and wife, Laurae, have an 11-year-old son, Sean, and an 8-year-old daughter, Poppy.
